Charlotte would want to get rid of Rozier's massive deal in any trade.

Who's DLo going to sign with? He says he isn't going back to LA. Offensively, he's better than Fultz. I'm not sure that's worth $13m more next year

I'd say he'd be an upgrade for Phoenix (over Chris Paul), Utah (over Kris Dunn?), San Antonio (over Tre Jones), and Boston (over Marcus Smart). Other teams that could be interesting would be Brooklyn (Spencer Dinwiddie is probably better) and Clippers (Westbrook is probably better).
I'd say he's also better than Fultz. But...
Edit: Some others, Miami, Philly, Washington, Chicago

Brooklyn and Boston don't have cap space. Phoenix likely won't have space.eyriq wrote:basketballRob wrote:Who's DLo going to sign with? He says he isn't going back to LA. Offensively, he's better than Fultz. I'm not sure that's worth $13m more next year

Yeah, good point. He's definitely going to have to take a pay cut.

TRoss probably wishes he took MCWs role with the team now. His latest IG shows his kid running around in the Magic's locker room.

He made $13,5M for 2022-23 season from Magic and additional $918K from Suns.
He is 33 years guy who can still sit on benches of some nba teams. So far he made $100M form NBA contracts alone. I highly doubt he regrets anything
There are always Lakers/ Clippers / Warriors to sit on bench and play 0-12 min and make $1-3M a year.

Re: 2022-2023 Magic Trade and Free Agency Idea Thread III
ORL sends: Cole Anthony, #6
SAS sends: Vassell
SAS adds a much better option at PG and a very valuable pick. Cole started for ORL 2 seasons ago and wasn’t ready. He showed the ability to put up assists and rebounds, along with his natural inclination to score. Last season, with Fultz’ return, Cole showed MUCH better efficiency and shot selection. He is definitely not afraid of the bright lights and the big shots and has dunk-contest level athleticism to enhance his Alpha mentality. Personally, I’d start him over Fultz, but that doesn’t seem to be ORL’s direction. #6 gets SAS a serious contributor to grow along with Wemby, Sochan, Cole, etc…I’d hope for Jarace Walker to provide a beautiful complement to Vic’s wispy length and diverse skillset. Obviously, there are many other high upside options at #6. SAS loves Vassell but has other players and an enticing role to offer FA’s to hold down the SG spot. Branham and Wesley both showed promise there.
ORL plugs Vassell right into their weak SG spot and give him as many open 3’s as he wants off of Paolo and Franz’ gravity inside. Both project as gifted passers and Paolo, particularly, will benefit from better floor spacing giving him room to work inside without facing constant double and triple coverages due to ORL’s impotent 3pt shooting from both backcourt spots.
ORL drafts Nick Smith (if he checks out) at #11, with expectation that he’s the Lead Guard of the near future- SGA/Jamal Murray hybrid.
…maybe Kobe Bufkin or Podzmieski jump up in workouts as similar types instead? Perhaps a trade back for further assets?
Trade#2…
ORL sends Fultz and Gary Harris
MIN sends Mike Conley & Kyle Anderson
Slo-Mo wants out of MIN and becomes ORL’s tough, versatile frontcourt vet, Mike Conley mentors in the backcourt and, as soon as he’s ready, cedes the starting spot to Smith. Conley’s shooting and BBIQ earn him minutes at both guard spots and his large deal is expiring. MIN sees Fultz as their PG of the present & future and Harris is a dependable 3&D rotation player behind Edwards.
ORL is significantly improved with veteran play and goes into next summer with significant spending power to continue their ascendance as a desirable FA destination. IF Isaac is healthy, this is a deep, versatile defensive powerhouse of a roster.
Conley, Nick Smith jr., srp(Podzmieski? Sasser? Who drops?)
Vassell, Suggs, Houstan
Franz, Anderson, Okeke
Paolo, Isaac, M. Wagner
WCJ, Goga

I got the vibe from his video that Orlando has been his family's home and money, and other jobs aren't the top priority.pepe1991 wrote:basketballRob wrote:TRoss probably wishes he took MCWs role with the team now. His latest IG shows his kid running around in the Magic's locker room.

We should go after Russel....he instantly improves us. This is a no brainier. We have cap space too.

Re: 2022-2023 Magic Trade and Free Agency Idea Thread III
How will the upcoming second tax apron impact high spending teams?
There is a lot of chatter that such will need to shed salary ahead of those penalties/restrictions.
These new rules are being phased in. Teams have another season to make moves but right now everyone is pointing at the Clippers and Warriors as being in the most dire situation.
Should we as a team with expiring deals and cap space be looking to “help” and take advantage of their situation??

I also noticed a bunch of blue hearts on Tross' IG post. I think he'll be back if we have a roster spot.

Russell is talented, but he has never helped a team in the win column. I'm not particularly excited about us going after FVV, but I would absolutely take him over Russell eight days a week. Russell is one of those players who can put up solid numbers, but also isn't good enough to be a top player and his game is only suited to be that. Teams that are contending right now (Denver, Miami, Boston, Golden State) show us you need the right glue guys, not just the most talented guys. Go after Reeves, Cam Johnson, Divencenzo, Hart, Bruce Brown, etc.

Honestly if I were the Magic I would be looking at trying to acquire either Bogdan Bogdanovic or possibly Klay Thompson. I’d dangle a combination of Issac, Harris, 11th see if anything could stick.
