Next year Orlando is already over the 1st apron. I would think this is about costs.

This is so frustrating, but nothing new though

Current rotation.
Suggs/Jones
Bane/Black
F-Wagner
Banchero/Isaac
Carter/Bitadza

So the Magic now has what looks like a 9-man rotation.

This fits the mold of last year where "either F-Wagner or Banchero are on the court at all times".
So one of those two rotate in on this bench.

Ace starting five and balanced bench.
The deep bench sucks. But I predict no injuries this season. Not worried at all!

We all knew this must eventually happen. I think getting Bane his old teammate cemented the deal.
Now we finally have options to run our offense. Like Gelbe said in other thread NAW would not give us that.
Jones can run the second unit. He can play with the starters in place of Bane or Suggs when our offense is stale. We can see how Suggs looks to real guard. We can see how Jett and Black look next to real nba guard.
Jase can learn from him. JI can make some alleyoops With both Bane and Jones our young stars can feel more support.
Very glad we signed him and we didnt need to use any picks. He can even stay with us long term
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Can someone please remind me what they do. I can't remember....

Tyus Jones, career backup, walked into Orlando and instantly become best PG in past 15 years

This isn't even a joke.

btw, I heard, but can't confirm it, that there are wild point guards in nba that can dribble. And pass. And do so without turning back to basket 60 feet from rim. And some of them can even shoot. Without gun. Can you imagine that?

And then you have Ja who can shoot with or without the gun.

I'm looking forward to seeing with my own eyes what all this "point guard" nonsense is about. No doubt its an Adam Silver invention to help the Lakers.

Magic Making moves. Got us 3 snipers in free agency, trades and draft and a rookie that can push the ball, defend, and bruise in the paint at 6'8, 245lb

Pretty sure they will just resign Moe and call it a wrap. Any extra minutes will goto the rookies and Jett/Silva and one of them will position themselves a role. Up for grabs if you ask me.

It is extraordinary rate these days for a team to drop below 33% with the annual 3-ball rate. The Magic MUST be above 33% next year to contend.
Most teams will be over 36%; that's not a realistic target for Orlando. But 34%? I think it is a good target.

I’m thankful that we have a PG on the roster, now we just need his protection from injuries.

Only a one year deal, so the belief in AB as PG of the future is still there. They don't want AB to break out with 10 assists a game off the bench yet because they want to keep his extension price down.

Those are your talking points going forward.

Seriously though just let AB's game speak for itself, he is going to be fine. Tyus at 1/7 is a solid pickup. They needed another PG on the roster, like even if you believe AB is a PG right now. There will be times he helps us and times Mose loses it with his poor defense, but at 1/7 I don't think you can really go wrong.

Oh, I quite like that spin!

AB is now the vertical lob threat we lack…Tyus will be rewarding him for cutting and finishing strong. I do think the one year deal is a vote for AB and Jase. Tyus is supposedly a beloved teammate…I really hope his influence spreads into the other guards’ games.

I’m a little surprised he agreed to a one year deal…I would imagine he had options. I’m willing to bet Bane was in his ear. Have to give Weltman credit for a favorable contract here. I guess he’s only overly generous with extensions.

I think the 15th team shot around 36%. Feels like a big jump but I’m not counting it out.

And-1

Jones to Anthony

Bane to Caldwell-Pope

Joseph to Richardson

Houstan to Penda

anyone to M-Wagner

Of the above list, maybe the starting SG is a drop off. But overall, isn't the Magic actually better defensively? For me it's a yes.

So we'll have to trade Jett and 2nd rounder for a 2nd rounder to have space to bring Houstan back?

Jett Howard pick has to be studied.

11th pick

year one -red shirted for no reason
year two- couldn't beat players who won't be in a league very next year for pt
year three -had to bribe teams to get rid of him

That whole thing was complete fiasco for a moment he was elected. i still can't wrap my head around notion of passing on Livley or Dick.
