Hold your horses. He said on ESPN that Otis had a good trade lined up for Dwight... Remember that Lopez, Wallace for Dwight trade in the beginning of the year. Yeah, he said that trade was a good trade...

I was actually just making fun of the Bower thread on here titled, "Bowers front runner for GM!!" :D

The moment there's a rumor, this board runs with it. I expect that to happen with every GM candidate name we hear until there's an actual hiring.

you keep dismissing the argument that Gay can "get his own shot" - why? if watching this current group over the past few years has shown you nothing, has it not been that we don't have enough players that can create their own offense? we've got no one that we can ISO, no one that will attack the rim consistently, no one consistent enough that will do all the work that will open up the shots for the rest of the team.

Anderson's role on the team is built around other people doing the work to get him his shots. whether that's Dwight, or a ballhandler, someone else is doing the work to make his defender consider leaving him. look at the 4 teams left in the playoffs right now - none of those guys have such a high emphasis on a player like that, and for a very good reason. when good defenses kick in, the players who can get it done on their own really start to shine.

also, what kind of offense do you think this team should run in the future? let's just assume we're rebuilding around Dwight, what kind of players will you put around him and what sets will you run?

I won't say I discount it really, I mean it may be valuable to have a high usage guy (in Gay's case 25.1% USG) next to Dwight. We've had Hedo '08 at 24.8% USG and '09 23% USG and Carter in '10 at 25.2% USG, and we were at our best in '09 and '10.

Gay would fill that narrow role. He doesn't bring the other elements that made Hedo and Carter so good for us though. He doesn't run the PnR or create for others, and so on. So while he'd be the best 'scorer' next to Dwight in the last five years he'd lack the other dimensions.

Also consider who has been 1st or 2nd in plus-minus over the last five years. '08 Hedo (2nd), '09 Lewis (1st), '10 Lewis (2nd), '11 Anderson (2nd), '12 Anderson (2nd).

In 4/5 seasons our leaders in plus-minus have been Dwight and ..... the stretch 4.

So when you ask what kinda system I'd put around Dwight, it would start with a stretch 4 unless I'm just blown away by another piece and it was between the stretch 4 or that other piece. Gay isn't that guy.

Rumors: Grizzlies want a lottery pick in exchange for Rudy Gay, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist wants Cavs to draft him http://dlvr.it/1gj87f

Had a feeling that's what MEM would have wanted for Gay. Toronto or Golden State can offer that.

he would be great for GSW as they want a sf badly and want to make the playoffs soon and rudy is already developed so they wont have to wait for whoever they draft this year
pg curry
sg thompson
sf gay
pf lee
c bogut
thats a pretty legit lineup if all can stay healthy

Staying healthy is a real problem for curry and bogut. That is a legit playoff roster though. Then again, that team isn't getting out of the first round either.

Contenders for? The Playoffs? Certainly not Championship Contender! 2 first round exits prove that

Dark horse contenders, not favourites for the title, but with dwight we would have been a 3 seed probably, boston will blow it up next year, nobody knows how the bulls will progress with roses injuries, we have our biggest strength at miami's weakness. . .and thats now, imagine if we made some small improvements

Seems so weird not seeing Monta mentioned with Curry there.

That lineup would definitely make the playoffs in the 7th or 8th seed but like others have said they may not make it out of the first round at all. Would be a fun team to watch though.

This would be a very good team IMO. A healthy Bogut is the 2nd best defensive anchor in the league, meaning that like Dwight he will drag a team defense into the top 10 almost single handedly. So then it is all about putting the right offense around him, and Curry|Thompson|Gay|Lee have the makings of a great offense.

+1

That team all depends on Bogut and Curry, 2 guys who have probably missed more games than played in the NBA. I think Curry will come back fine, but Bogut has had so many injuries that I'm wondering if he will have a conditioning issue. The roster will make the 8th seed and get bounced every year. So it makes you wonder if trading for Gay, who is is owed $15-17 over the next 3 years, is worth it for a team like the Warriors. I assume Curry will be up for an extension soon and Bogut's deal expires at season's end. If a team wants to keep its options open down the road, then acquiring a massive deal like Gay's could be a bad move.

But their owner seems hell bent on getting some talent in their asap. Of any team desperate to add some excitement to their franchise, I could see the W's and Rap's doing the deal.

Celtics take a 3-2 lead over the Heat. Doc's defensive adjustments between zone and man to man was genius. Doc Rivers is a very good coach and this series is proving it.

I do not care whether Miami wins or loses as a basketball fan. However, as an Orlando Magic supporter, IF Miami can not even reach to the finals, that would work for us in so many different ways.
