I don't see Doc leaving the C's if they make the Finals.

i can see him leaving after they win the finals and the big 3 split up. then we can draft austin rivers and put doc in a nice comfy front office position, or coach if he would like.

According to the sources, the latest version of the proposal has Pacers assistant and ex-Lakers assistant Brian Shaw coaching the team and Hall of Famer and Bulls ambassador Scottie Pippen as the lead assistant. And as if Jackson's potential price tag wasn't daunting enough (he earned $12 million in his last year with the Lakers), one of the sources said he is asking for a slice of minority ownership in the franchise as well. The hope, of course, would be for Jackson to use his cachet to convince Dwight Howard to remain in Orlando for the long-term. Jackson's agent, Todd Musburger, did not return a call for comment.

Yet fascinating as the idea might be, Magic CEO Alex Martins appears to be against the idea of having an absentee leader --no matter how many rings he has. In the plan, Jackson --according to one of the sources -- would work in Orlando one week out of every month and agree to make six community appearances every month as well. Martins has been on the lookout for a general manager of a very different ilk since firing former general manager Otis Smith on May 21, preferring someone who, among other qualities, would be in the office daily.

Interesting to say the least.

President of Basketball Operations: Phil Jackson
General Manager: Dennis Lindsey
Head Coach: Brian Shaw

Dwight Howard extends and he and Phil pay D-Will a visit and recruit hard. If it fails, D-Will goes to Dallas. We clear a lot of bad contracts this season, and make a run at CP3 in 2013.

Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if Bower gets the GM position, but I'm rolling with Lindsey.

Phil is asking for too much. He wants to GM from LA and only be in ORL once a month??? Don't now if Alex is going to do that. AND Phil wants a stake in ownership, so IMO I don't see this happening. He is just asking for too much and I dough ORL will do it. I hope they do, but dought it

I don't get the excitement, Phill really wouldn't be doing anything? Meh, if it helps us keep Dwight then I'm all for it.

I do like Shaw as HC though

Nice find. Seems like Phil wants the whole package. I would like him to be here as much as the next person but if it means him having ownership, Pippen as the assistant, and him only being in Orlando less than part time it might not be worth it.

Jackson wants a piece of ownership and is not all in. Without Dwight already signed you cant risk spending this on a possible rebuild. I would love to have Jackson but we wont be the only team passing on that price tag. If he took the bench again maybe he drives his value up, but we have not seen him in a front office.

Damn, if we're at this serious of a proposal, this is the real thing.

BUT

It's not known how the DeVos family that owns the Magic sees Jackson's potential candidacy, as there were conflicting signs on that front. On the one hand, Jackson's pedigree and unparalleled profile has to be intriguing as a possible way of holding on to Howard (who has one year remaining on his contract). On the other, Howard could be seen as a lost cause by the Magic considering if -- as was the case leading up to the most recent trade deadline -- he's unlikely to be persuaded no matter who's recruiting him. Sources close to Howard continue to say that he wants out and has no plans of re-signing in Orlando.

Proposal is one week or work a month in Orlando and 6 appearances, that's more than we got out of Otis.

I have no problem with Scottie Pippen as an assistant. We've had Patrick Ewing on the bench for years. It's not a big deal.
