Magic fans have awoken from their 'Dwightmare' with the realization that their best player is an undersized, limited point guard and significant salary cap relief won’t come for at least two summers. And after spending the past half-decade as NBA Finals contenders, the Magic will likely be a lottery team until campaign ads are running for the next presidential election.

I'm not one hoping players get hurt, but I sincerely hope Howard's back never fully heals.

Its not Dwight's fault this team is full of morons.

We can be over the cap and trade for a player who makes this kind of money.

For example, we could trade tomorrow our TPE for Durant or LeBron, assuming Thunder or Heat want to clear some cap.

ok maybe i can loosen my collar a bit.....Don't we also have another TPE or has that one expired already? anyway we can do things with that if we're smart.....

the last one i remember was for gortat and it expired, the last TPE i remember using was in the brian cook trade

we have 1 year to use it, starting today

The Magic decided to send Dwight Howard to the Lakers in a four-team trade instead of offers from both the Rockets and Nets.

Houston's final offer was $12 million in immediate cap space instead of Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington, several of their recent first round selections, along with future lottery and unprotected draft picks.

The Rockets were unwilling to take back any bad contracts in return while dealing for Howard.

Well, I was wrong, their offer was legit.

It was legit, but we would have been stuck with all of our bad contracts still... I'd rather get rid of richardson and duhon and get what we got than a few slightly earlier draft picks. I wouldn't be surprised to see us with two top 10 draft picks for next year.

Yeah, we have another TPE (7.5M) from Ryan's trade this offseason.

You don't even know what the Houston deal was. If it was better Rob would have taken it.

I believe that Dwight was promised that we would trade him to the Nets after the playoffs if he waived his option.
- Dwight was saying promisses that they made mid-season, where not kept
- Devos would no longer go to meet with him
- He was considering legal action, this makes no sense unless a verbal agreement was entered

The Magic probably said they would, thinking they would have a good showing in the playoffs and change his mind. Then the injury and fallout with the team took place and he wanted his trade.

- We had offers on draft night with teams he was not reported to want and we did not pull the trigger.
- The trip Henny made was to probably see if he would go to Houston

In the end he could not have the Nets until mid-season, we did not want this going to camp. We sent him to the only other team that he would take. It is a players league and breaking this "promiss" and doing whatever we want would have hurt us in the future, trying to build a reputation with players/agents. Lopez/Bynum/Iggy are not the type of players a smart small market team maxes out as thier leader or franchise player. We would have been stuck making 7-8 seed or just missing the playoffs. Instead we got bad (real bad) and now we will see if the 3 wise men from OKC/Chi/Det can build through the draft. Our pick will be the big one, the other picks are just tools to move foward.

They will have to increase beer prices to make up for losing so much money.

They do not get used very often. It probably will not get used.

They can't, thats the only way they will make money next season. Ticket holders will have to drink themselves into a good mood at the games next year.

We have a TPE from the Ryno trade to the Hornets when we picked up Ayon.

I'm really campaigning hard for a Bynum offseason FA signing! That would really turn around this trade and make Henny look like a genius.

^^Maybe Hennigan will use the TPE since it can be used creatively during draft time.....we could potentially be big players in the draft next year if what i'm reading is correct.....

all of our bad contracts? we got rid of duhon which would of cost $1.5mil next year, and we got rid of jrich's $6mil a year, we added $7-8mil a year on affalo, and $7-8mil on harrington unless hes waived, but it still counts $3.5mil towards the cap

we really didnt get rid of these bad contracts

At this point it really all depends on how Harkless develops and how high the Magic are drafting next year.

If Harkless can develop his game to become a legit starter in the league and the Magic tank hard enough and get Muhammad they've given themselves a nice foundation for the future with two stud wings (even though they still desperately need a PG & C)

I expect nothing from Vucevic as Sixers fans have called him softer than Hawes. Nicholson & O'Quinn are both undersized and will be fringe starters in the league.

Everyone else probably won't be with the team by 2014.

BTW can I just add that I love the trade for Denver and the Sixers?

I'm gonna go ahead and make a bold prediction; Denver is 3rd seed in the West & Philly win's the Atlantic Division.

Not including Dwight, we took back more salary and longer salary with just Afflalo and Harrington. J-Rich and Duhon were on the books for 9.3 mil and we just took back 14.4 just in Afflalo and Harrington. And Afflalo is a 4 year deal, one more than J-Rich and 2.5 mil more a year.

It was legit, but we would have been stuck with all of our bad contracts still... I'd rather get rid of richardson and duhon and get what we got than a few slightly earlier draft picks. I wouldn't be surprised to see us with two top 10 draft picks for next year.
