Here's the timeline I've pieced together through the play-by-play and the injury report... Exum suffered an ankle injury during the first quarter of that game. It seems he was playing well up to that point - scored 5pts, grabbed 2 rebs, drew 4 fouls (2 from defensive Elfrid Payton) and turned it over only once. It looks like one of his turnovers came on the play where he injured his ankle. He was noticeably in pain and then subbed out for the rest of the 1st quarter. He then tried to play on the hurt ankle for another 3 and a half minutes in the 2nd quarter, which is when he quickly turned it over a couple times before being benched for the rest of the game.

Wait, what? This is it? This is the guy who could be as good as Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, and Joel Embiid? Did NBA scouts even watch this thing? I know they’ve watched Exum play hours upon hours of real basketball over the last few years, but that only tells me that NBA scouts know how to waste time and money.

I am still pro Dante, but this kinda confirms my suspicions about the guy: he may not be as skilled and smart as people think he is. If you compound that with average athleticism, this pick has a bust potential more so than Smart pick would have.

Exum having higher bust potential isn't anything new. Teams want him for his insane potential, not because he's a safe pick.

I dont see how exum is seen as high bust postential. He has more translatable skills than wiggins is seen as having a higher fllor than exum. These pre draft presumptions of who has the highest floor are usually wrong as usually wrong as every year these players who are seen that way just end up meaning that theyre just not as good.

If Oladipo couldn't start over Meer, there is no way in **** Exum would start over Meer.

I agree for the 2014/15 season. Exum will be a young 19 yo old for most of the season (he is 18 during the summer leagues).

He thus, in addition to spending a year working on his jumper, needs to learn the "rules" of the off-of-the-court NBA lifestyle. Jameer Nelson is exactly the guy to do that, with Oladipo offer a great deal of assistance.

Drafting Dante Exum is about the long-term future, not "his role" in the 2014/15 season.

..

If one goes by NBAdraft.net, Orlando drafts Exum and Šarić. Neither would be projected to start in the coming season. Orlando's depth chart could very well be:

Nelson/Exum/Moore
Oladipo/Lamb
Harris/Harkless
O'Quinn/Nicholson/Osby
Vučević/Dedmon

+ whatever assets the Magic get for Afflalo (the above shows a need for a combo forward).

That is not a 41 win team. What I am taking from the idea of drafting Exum (and Šarić) is that the Magic will be awful for yet another year. But it all builds up nicely for the 2015/16 season.

Wow!! A mop plays better defense then Saric. Do people here only look at offensive stats to judge a player? Their are probably several players that could average 20 a game in the NBA not even in the league because they can't defend their own shadow.

This had me cracking up
If Exum’s version of a jaw-dropping play is taking two dribbles into the lane, jump-stopping, and throwing a bounce pass for a board-slap layup to a 6-foot-2 high school center who might be a carny in five years, I can’t help but react with skepticism.

At least this week will tell us something new about Exum. Probably not much as I have a feeling his workouts will be a bit on the private side. He wants to come to the Magic and is sandbagging the other teams. 8-)

Dante Exum worked out for Bucks today. He politely declined interview, per his agent Rob Pelinka's instructions.

If reporters got to him, they'd ask: "Dante, how do you feel about possibly playing in MIL? Hope you like the cold." Exum: "uhhhh *blank stare*." Lol.

Honestly, if a player doesn't want to play for a team, there's no good that could come from an interview with media. Get your feet wet with a workout and move on to the next.

Wait he declined interview with the Bucks staff or he declined interviews with the media? Thats can be very misleading.

no one knows the details. Bucks' fans are just as confused as us by that tweet, and the author hasn't specified.

Guessing media. Don't see why he'd work out for them and decline and interview.

This gives more ammo to BMP though ;)

Sounds like the latter. Otherwise why would he bothers working out for a team and not talk to them? That would make no sense, because it's not like he's quiet like Leonard or clueless like Ben McLemore.. Exum sounds like an intelligent and good, articulate speaker on the few interviews that I've seen of him.

Do reporters usually go to these events? I never remember them asking questions to the draftees after their workouts.
