All these reports are quoting another report that quoted an anonymous source, that doesnt really mean that there are a ton of reports that he wants out

He could easily stay in contact through video and regular calls for the other three weeks if he did end up being GM. Phil Jackson on a monitor >>>>>>>>>>>>> Otis Smith in person. Besides, half the games are played on the road last I checked. Hell, I'd take him just so he would have frequent conversations with Dwight and unleash some zen on him...

Really? Aren't you giving an awful lot "benefit of the doubt" to someone who's never managed a basketball franchise before? Hell, thinking about it, having Phil's name attached to our club could be useful, but I'd want Weaver or Penn/Pritchard making the decisions. Pippen would be cool as an assitant coach for his defensive knowledge; I've heard about how he used to direct his teams' defense during his playing days.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

I think getting Phil (and likely Shaw) would keep Dwight in O-Town, don't you? Also, Phil/Dwight duo would probably be able to lure free agents once we actually have money to spend. Those two points alone are worth the price of admission imo. I don't think it will happen though... just seems unreal.

What if What Otis said is true and it is a lost cause with Dwight? What if he's already sold on the Big Market that is New York? if that is the case then it doesn't matter who we bring in since Dwight is already set.....If he wants to leave i hope that it's for basketball reasons instead of leaving to expand his "Brand" i might respect him a little more if that's the case.....Dwight to me seems like he can't make any decision on his own so he's listening to his camp and advisers instead of realizing they all work for him....he's the boss....

I mean we're already hearing the rumors and reading the articles....Dwight can easily stop all of this by addressing it...but it's the silence that's getting to me...makes it seems like he's just sitting back enjoying that his name is still in the headlines.....i don't know....call it a conspiracy but something just doesn't smell right to me......

Pippen said that LeBron was a better player than MJ if I remember correctly. Would that e an example of a dumb comment you are referring to?? I know he tried to correct himself by retracting his statement but still in shock he said it in the first place

LOL @ Sam Vincent trying to pimp Phil to the Magic to secure his own job. SMH

The only thing I don't like about this proposed offer is Vincent serving a GM type role.

so stop it with the "how can he lead from LA"...

this is the 21st century, i can skype, magic have something better then skype.

further more, he wouldn't be the GM, but having him on board & as part owner gives this franchise some much needed credibility, with or without Dwight.

Shaw has grown on me but thats probably just from reading all the glowing praises he gets on here from the "experts"

Pippen, yeah whatever... like someone said we had Ewing for the last 4-5 years

My worry is Sam vincent, is he planning on getting the GM spot?
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

that and there could be plenty of other reasons that would never be disclosed to the public.

People here think of this as grocery shopping where if you have the money, you are able to get whatever you want. This may or may not be about what Alex prefers, the apples and eggs have to want to be purchased and have to be able to coexist with the banana and milk we have, too.

I see the same type of reasoning when it comes to free agents. It has to change.

All of this may not matter if Dwight wants out anyways. If Dwight wants out, give me Pritchard and Penn manning the rebuild.

Part ownership + any title he wants + hire any friends he wants + doesn't even have to be here FOR Phil Jackson 12 weeks a year.

Sounds like an Otis Smith type of trade ;)

This is exactly the all or nothing type of move we need to show dwight we are serious. I'm all for it if you have some kind of indication dwight would stay. I would stray away from the minority ownership for phil however, doesn't seem like a smart business move on the part of the Devo's. I feel this could be the deal breaker for Phil though.

The plan also includes Frank Hamblen and Jim Cleamons according to BS.

If needed:
Frank Hamblen is a National Basketball Association (NBA) coach and scout, and a former college basketball player at Syracuse University. He has served as an interim head coach for two different teams; for the Milwaukee Bucks in 1992 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2005. He also has served as an assistant coach on four NBA teams (Kansas City/Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers), often alongside Phil Jackson. Hamblen has been an assistant coach on seven championship teams, two with Jackson's Bulls and five with Jackson's Lakers. Jackson retired after the 2010–11 season, and Hamblen's contract with the Lakers expired as well.

Cleamons:

In addition to his playing career, Cleamons was the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks for slightly over one year, from 1996 to 1997. He was then the head coach of the Chicago Condors, and he has served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. He was hired as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers on July 19, 2006.

For a few games during his tenure with the Lakers, he has served as acting head coach while Phil Jackson was absent. In 2011, Cleamons became a coach in the Chinese Basketball Association.

I liked the part of the article that said martins is going to narrow it down to two or three candidates.

Apparently Ryan has withdrawn from that 2nd Olympic squad. Agent probably convinced him he needed to be healthy and not risk injury before big payday

If Phil comes along with that coaching staff, how do our current players fit with the triangle offense? What players are out there we can target to bring in and run the triangle effectively?

I see Jameer as a good triangle PG; Derrick Fisher type. Dwight will also do well because I think his passing is under utilized. Thinking about it, our current roster would do very well in the triangle. I'd like to see us make a move for Iggy & Darko, if that is our system.

I understand the concern, but that's a great opportunity to work on your game with the best we have. Practice & scrimmage them daily and he'll pick up some new things.
