Why would he want to stay here, he 'll look at opportunity to get more PT with another team

It was reported that no one wanted to trade for Hezonja earlier in the season!

If the reports are true, why go to another team now knowing no one was interested in him?

The grass isn't always greener on the other side, ask Dwight!

big difference between having to trade an asset for him and just needing cap space to sign him.

Turning down his team option is looking really bad

I think Mario Hezonja will leave at the end of the season.

Another thing that sucks about turning down his option is he is an unrestricted free agent instead of restricted after Year 4.

Sad but true.

BUT.. still holding out hope that Simmons was signed for what, 3 million a year? A proven playoff contributor.

Regardless though, i dont see weham to retain most of our players long term except fornisaac and maybe ag.

Well, Hezonja says he's been injured for a good period last season. In that case, declining his option is sadly even worse since they knew he's been injured

Why should he leave now? He's getting playing time and playing much better, not to mention people around the organization believe in him now!

I remember the guy from OrlandoMagicdaily.com said Mario would be out the league at the end of the season if he doesn't play well! I stopped listening to him after that because I guess I was probably the only few fans hyping him up and remained confident in him!

We all know Mario loves basketball and he just needed to find his rhythm and build off that. How can anyone root against him is beyond me!

He still needs to improve his defense and ball handling more because Vogel can't keep him him defensively at the four.

Well if they want him to stay they need to match, give him guarantees of starting minutes and show a real plan moving forward for a winning team. Even if it is a development team to begin with without being a tanking team.

He needs to improve everything further. But biggest things are defense, ball handeling and his 3. He has far more more room to grow, including his consistency and penetration, in all areas. He still has a very high cealing and he came in the NBA very raw. But the main things he has learned which were his biggest downfalls earlier is strong head and keeping his emotions in check.

I'm back again to talk Mario. I really like him as a player. What is Orlando's plan for him this summer? I really want him in Nawlins.

I think our plan for the summer is to pray that he finds some irrational reason to stay with Orlando even though we spent the bulk of his three years here jerking him around before declining his option. Then we will throw a huge collective tantrum after he signs elsewhere. Some of us will use it to rage against Vogel for mishandling his development, while others will bring it up several hundred times to express our disdain for our new front office.

Not to throw salt in.... but let's take a look... because as a Pelicans fan, I can empathize some.

2013-14

Nice pieces going forward

Oladipo
Afflalo
Vucevic
Harris
Harkless
Nicholson

2014-15

Drafted Gordon and Payton (traded for rights to Saric)
Acquired Fournier and filler for Afflalo and filler

Nice pieces going forward

Oladipo
Fournier
Vucevic
Harris
Harkless
Nicholson
O'Quinn
Payton
Gordon

2015-16

Drafted Hezonja
Harkless signs with PDX
Traded O'Quinn to NY for 2nd rd pick swap and $

Nice pieces going forward

Oladipo
Fournier
Vucevic
Harris
Nicholson*
Payton
Napier
Hezonja

Traded Harris to DET for Jennings and Ilyasova

2016-17

Traded Oladipo, draft rights to Sabonis and Ilyasova to OKC for Ibaka
Traded Napier to PDX for $
Renounced Nicholson
Drafted Zimmerman
Sent Laymans rights to PDX for a 2nd and $

Nice pieces going forward

Fournier
Vucevic
Payton
Hezonja*
Zimmerman
Biyombo?
Ibaka?

Traded Ibaka to TOR for Ross, least favorable 1st and filler

2017-18

Drafted Issac
Drafted Iwundu
Waived Zimmerman

Nice pieces going forward

Fournier

2015-16 is where Orlando should've been more patient. I remember the talk was comparing ORL's young pieces to MIN and MIL pieces. Sigh.

I think if we offer him a starting PG role in the mold of James Harden, he might be willing to stay! He always said his natural position is point guard!

We need to start recruiting Hezonja like he's a free agent!

Thanks for the confirmation!

Most people lost a lot of faith in him early in the season when he was playing, now those same very people want him to stay because he's finally playing better! (I don't mean to get personal with you guys but would you treat your own children like this if they were not meeting expectations in life? I would assume no, you stick by them and support them until they get it right especially if they have a passion for success!) Mario is the same way.

I wonder how many people called Oladipo a non star because he simply wasn't getting it done in Orlando? Fast forward a few years later he's a All-Star with the Pacers!

It's a lot of bandwagon fans around and I wonder if we're going to treat Jonathan Isaac the same way?

Does anyone know if we can only offer the Rookie scale amount for next year or does it have to be the duration of the contract?

ie could we offer the ~$5m next year as part of (for example) a 3 year deal paying $7-8m per for years 2 and 3?

If we can offer a contract like this I think it evens the playing field a little bit.

I think he'll get the full MLE from somebody in the off-season. He's on the cusp of "getting it".

I hope Detroit is interested.

Don't think he is anything special still. If he goes he goes.
