About the same I'd say.

Maybe he flashed a little bit more passing and playmaking chops than people expected, but otherwise he looked about what his scouting reports said he'd look like.

He's a good shooter with the potential to be a great shooter. He can catch-and-shoot and he can also dribble his way into pull up jumpers. He's a capable passer on the move. There's certainly the potential there for him to be a very good offensive player even though he doesn't look like he's going to be a good finisher.

But his projected weaknesses - lack of explosion on both ends, lack of lateral quickness defensively, lack of physicality - all seemed relatively spot on.

Nice! I'm excited about them both.

I don't recall, was Jett playing guard on the SL team? We played a weird lineup

Edit: Orlando should be fined for their handling of the summer league.

I know some are down on Black, and I'm showing how much a player can improve in a year.

If the summer league is indicative of our farm system, we are screwed.

True.

If there is a farm system and if the summer league is indicative of our farm system then we are screwed.

And screwed in the sense of a toddler lobbing a pebble at us and it veering right towards our open eye ball.

Something is being swept under the rug with Cam IMO. Utah passed on him twice. We passed on him twice. How can a consensus top 10 guy fall to 20?

That said, Summer League play doesn't mean much and I'm not losing sleep over his performances. I'd just like to know what exactly was uncovered.

Sounds like a combination of scary medicals and a particularly poor set of team interviews.

I wouldn't necessarily go crazy about his Summer League performance either. He only shot .286 from 3PT and .625 from the FT line with more turnovers than assists.

He scored a lot because he took a lot of shots.

His summer league performance reminds me a lot of Kuminga's from two years ago where he looked like a physical marvel and had a series of eye popping plays from a strength and athleticism standpoint, but his numbers weren't that great overall.

He looks healthy and played team ball.

I don’t put much stake in summer league but in Cam’s case he at least showed he isn’t broken?

when your idea of farming is "cash considerations" its no surprise we are where we are.

I am sure in a rare moment of clarity in the org. We looked hard at Cam at 11 and decided that we already have a broken player at "F" in mr Isaac.

Keyonte however.....I think his floor is at least Cole Anthony. Which we could always have used another strong bench player.

Even after passing on Whitmore we could’ve taken a flier on Emoni Bates, who’s a 6’9’’ flat out scorer.

Sometimes I hate how vanilla this front office is

GG Jackson looks nice too

I'll never really understand this front office's approach to second rounders. I feel like deep down even the biggest Weltman truthers don't understand it either - I've seen some suggest its an ownership mandate, some say its to save salary, some say the draft flattened out.. etc.

Because of the growing global support for basketball, the transfer portal, new leagues popping up (OTE, G League ignite, etc), and the new CBA it seems like you can really create some arbitrage in the draft via second round picks. I mean the best player on the team that just won it all was drafted in the second round even

100%

Miami and Denver are experts at drafting in the 2nd round. The “flattened” conversation is a slap in the face to fans.

Every single year there’s a steal in the 2nd round

Eh... not too worried ok Cam. Unless he is th best player of THIS class of 23 then he is going to get buried.

His playing style won't flourish against regular NBA teams

Yes, but this team have yet to find these gems.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16
