Cole needs to step up his game. That wasn't Cole in the last several games. He is one of the leader in 6th man of the year. And that ain't Cole

I’ve been harping on it. The offense needs work and Paolo needs to be more selective. I put most of the blame on the offense though.

He’s got no help. With Franz out- every shot he took was contested. He’s a star- but this is a terrible situation. If he’s more selective, ORL scores 50 ppg

Like Cole 2 yrs ago…led the team in scoring but was inefficient and “didn’t make other players better”. He couldn’t make them better- they stunk. When Franz went out Cole’s shot WAS usually the best shot, so he took them. Not good, but not better options either.

Glaring need for a reliable shooter, not another promising prospect.

Yea but it's not like he sets world on fire in efficiency department when Franz plays.

I agree on notion that majority efficiency problems are direct result of building roster of defensinve non-scorers & non shooters.

Paolo also loves em bad shots no matter who he plays with tho, that dates back to college. That's why Melo/Randle was most often comparison.

Look: when Orlando can find shooting from both guards, the pull the Banchero-magnet draws will loosen. Frankly I think there is no chage he should make, as he draws fouls at an amazing rate given the game he is playing now.

Impressive stuff. I'm actually at a loss of words. That is an unplayable level of production.

Once again teams ahead of us are making moves to get better and here we are just twiddling our thumbs like every thing is ok. It's honestly a joke at this point. Miami, New York and Indiana have allmade significant moves to get better. Smh I'm so over it

This could have easily been a move the magic make to upgrade and not necessarily deplete Any real assets.

Heat doing execlly what i proposed us doing

Rozier is having career year averaging 23 ppg on garbage team, is 30 years old and fits that "grit" Riley likes.

Well played Heat, well played.

I’m fine with not getting Rozier. We better go get Murray.

Or they have eyes on someone else. Or they're going to stand pat.

For argument's sake... let's say the Magic do standpat and add nothing at the deadline this year.

Then you head into this summer with the following...

Fully Guaranteed Contracts
Cole $12.9M
Paolo $12.16M
WCJ $11.95M
Suggs $9.18M
Black $7.60M
Franz $7.00M
Jett $5.27M
15th overall pick: $5.00M (approx)
TOTAL: $71.06M in fully guaranteed salary

Team Options/Non-Guaranteed Contracts
Isaac $17.40M
Ingles $11.00M
Moritz $8.00M
Houstan $2.01M
TOTAL: $38.41 in team option/non-guaranteed salary

Free Agents
Markelle Fultz
Gary Harris
Chuma Okeke (RFA)
Goga Bitadze

If the Magic opt to retain all four of Isaac, Ingles, Moritz and Caleb, then they'll have $109.47M in committed salary on 12 players.

They'll have 3 open roster spots, but they'll be $32.53M under the salary cap and have to hit the salary floor, so they will have to spend no matter what spend at least $127.8M on a $142M salary cap.

So no matter what they do, they have to spend roughly $18.3M this summer just to hit the salary cap floor. And that's if they retain all four of Isaac/Ingles/Moritz/Houstan. If they opt to move on from any of them, that number only increases.

So then what?

Do they just resign Fultz and Goga for that $18M to get them to the floor and then run it back next season with the exact same friggin group only one year closer to Franz/Suggs/Paolo's inevitable cap space destroying extensions?

Are you prepared to go 30M+ AAV on Claxton? Because that's probably what it's gonna take to get him to leave Brooklyn.

The other part of this is that it doesn't have to be an either or scenario.

The Magic could trade for somebody like Murray or Simons right now, but still have the cap space to attack this summer by simply moving on from Isaac and Ingles.
