The funny thing is this is somewhat similar to the post-Melo Nuggets....if we can somehow turn into them, it'll be a ton of fun to watch.

Dude, the Nuggets got back Gallo, Wilson Chandler, and Mozgov.

I'm already there!! Gonna be funny as hell when Laker fans realize you cant go to Dwight in the 4thQ. Most of them think they're getting the next Shaq.

How is Harkless tradeable when he signed his rookie deal on July 24th?

You can agree to trades ahead of time. They'd become official as soon as players are made available to be traded.

Yes, that we have actually. Dwight + Duhon + JRich + Clark is about $30+mil cleared. We take back $1.7 Harkless, $8mil Afflalo, $7mil Harrington (but only like $3.5mil guaranteed next year), $1.7 Vucevic. Plus you never know....maybe we throw in another guy (Turk, Q, ?) to clear a lil more room?

Yay we can sign Dwight Howa... Oh wait...

Three first rounders, Harkless are legit man if you're not under a rock with the drafts and the patience of development. Same with Afflalo as a young vet who keeps improving. Vucevic is a legit 7 footer but that'll be more a personal opinion if he's high ceiling.

Lotto tanking is not a part of the deal but it is the direction to go. You might not stay a fan but in theory we will have a young exciting team in 3-5 years set to dominate as a top 4 team and you'll be back as a fan for a longer time this time around. I mean I don't know how else you can explain trying to take injury or 28+ vets and hope for something better than Dwight brought, unless you really, really believe Hennigan has got the next Ginobili and Parker in the 2nd/late 1st.

I dont get the timeline. There was two months into training camp. Two months where he could try to lure Morey into giving up Lamb or the Raptors pick. Or trying the 3-way with the Cavs...

He also knew any day after dec 15 he could call Cuban and trade Dwight/jrich for Kaman/Mayo/Collison and two/three future first. That backup solution is probably even better than this trade.

So i really dont get it...

Mozgov was laughed at before that trade when it was said he was a sticking-point that the Nuggets said they had to have -> Vucevic

Gallo -> Similar numbers to Afflalo

Chandler -> Harkless could turn exactly into that type of player

In fact....go look up their numbers in NYC before they were traded...They're almost identical to the pieces we are getting.

LOL. They weren't exactly making NYC a contender when they were there, weren't exactly household names....

Poor Lakers. They'll have to console themselves with letting Kobe, Nash, Gasol, and Jamison do the scoring then. How I feel for them.

Gallo has star potential... You cannot seriously be compairing Afflalo to him.

so.... what's the long term plan here?

Afflalo is obviously key to this. Hennigan either believes he's got big potential, or believes he's great value for the contract he's signed to.

here's the pipe dreaming optimist in me... Hennigan knows that Oklahoma will need an affordable alternative to Harden moving forwards, and maybe Afflalo is that piece? paying Afflalo $7M per season as opposed to a max/near max deal for Harden could become a very real factor in a future deal?

Harrington is 50% unguranteed after the next season. Afflalo makes more than J Rich and for more years, negating the loss of Duhon who was only due 1.5 million after this year. Clark is an expiring. So we basically added salary.

I don't know about you guys, but the fact that we'll no longer have to see Duhon post up to get past half-court makes this deal oh-so sweet.

Front headline on RealGM states a conference call Friday morning to NBA offices about proposed 4 team trade, I WILL wait to pass judgement until finalized trade is announced
