Don't get me wrong, I liked JJ on the Magic a hell of a lot more than Afflalo, but AA objectively has more value around the league. He's been a full-time starter for a number of years, he led the team in scoring, and he's reputed to be a good/great defender (however unfairly).

Drafting Osby and meeting with Milsap (if true) signals that Nicholson or BBD could be traded. Hopefully BBD. Adding more PFs tells me they want Harris full time at SF. Trade BBD for a young assests or a draft pick. AA + Nich for Bledsoe + Butler.

Bledsoe/Nelson/Moore
Oladipo/Harkless/Lamb
Harris/Butler
Milsap/Osby
Vuc/OQuinn

That team might win close to 35 games....I'd still rather tank for a top 5 pick next year.

You really think BBD is in the long-term plan of the franchise?

Do I think BBD is the long term plan, no but I do think he is going to be here for another year or two because he is a good leader and good for the young guys on the team. There really is minimal difference between Millsap and BBD so I would just view this as a lateral move at most.

Why would they turn down Afflalo only to accept Redick???

Because JJ is a better player?

ya okay mr. JJ Homer.

AA is a better defender and while being slightly less of the pure shooter JJ is.

He is a efficient scorer and he is a little better on the defensive end true but he isn't that much better of a rebounder and he can be a black hole ask Utah about that.

Millsap would essentially play the same role that Davis does in Orlando mid-range popper who rebounds. The difference being he is older and is going to cost more money.

Unsurprising news: Pelicans guard Austin Rivers is obtainable. Pelicans not actively shopping him, but he could be had in the right deal.

I assume you mean 2013 pick Andrew Nicholson? I like his offensive game BUT he would be traded to get better players. He isn't untouchable. It would be sweet to get Bledsoe and then draft Randle next year and keep Nicholson as his backup. Use our NYK/DEN 1st next year to move up and get a PG if none is available at that spot.

For one, I'm a huge Millsap fan but don't want him here. We'd be blowing our FA load too quickly and it would kill our chances at Wiggins. I think Millsap in a bigger role here with the young guys we have could win 35 games or so. Kind of pointless.

But on the comparison to him and BBD, Millsap is just all around way better. The numbers only look similar because Millsap has played on the most crowded front court in the league while BBD was forcing up shots on a bad team without much scoring options. I think Davis is a solid role player with inflated stats while Millsap is a top 10 PF with stats being held back by the crowded frontcourt in Utah. It would be a major upgrade, but one that doesn't make sense for Orlando. We should trade BBD and have Harris start at the four with Nicholson off the bench, we want the young guys to develop while we tank for 2014. Having either BBD or Millsap hurts that goal.

Bensational wrote:i don't think BBD is in the long term plans. and you'd never heard a rumour from an Orlando source about AA being traded until Hennigan openly admitted that we're in discussions with the Clippers. just because it isn't being said, doesn't mean the offers aren't out there.

in the end, BBD's $6M/season to be a backup (which he won't be happy about) just isn't worth it. should we spend $14M on BBD and Afflalo, or trade them for cap space to sign a FA for the same amount? Give me John Wall at $14M any day of the week.

Not that i think it's likely, but having the freedom to chase those guys is more important. And neither BBD nor Afflalo are worthy enough trade pieces to keep for s&t scenarios - because teams just won't be lining up for them.

Not surprisingly we see things differently once again. This time, I don't see a big fuss about it either way, so I'm not really passionate about my stance in it. However, I think what BBD adds goes a long ways in regards to building the right kind of culture here and helping the young guys develop. Not a lot of guys are willing to do that. I think that the team really likes that about him and it can go a long ways.

BBD's $6M is not that much money. In today's world for a veteran that is most certainly within range of being a backup player. I don't see him stomping in Rob's office yelling for more PT because he's a $6M dollar a year player. The thought is funny though.

That's besides the point anyways. Because of his ability to play C, there are plenty of minutes to go around for him between PF and C.

I'm a fan of BBD. He keeps the team loose, he embraces the team family concept, is a great mentor for our young guys on and off the court and he produces at the rate he is paid.

Over at the jazz forum, Utah fans are conspiring to purchase Milsap's salt lake city house before he changes his mind and decides to stay.

Milsap is the answer to nothing in Orlando. Nothing.

Yeah, typo. Sure, he isn't untouchable, but Osby isn't a sign that the writing is on the wall for AN.

As for Randle, he takes more jump shots than he should and he lacks defensively. I don't know what kind of upgrade he provides over Nicholson. Brand name recognition?
