so.... what's the long term plan here?

Afflalo is obviously key to this. Hennigan either believes he's got big potential, or believes he's great value for the contract he's signed to.

here's the pipe dreaming optimist in me... Hennigan knows that Oklahoma will need an affordable alternative to Harden moving forwards, and maybe Afflalo is that piece? paying Afflalo $7M per season as opposed to a max/near max deal for Harden could become a very real factor in a future deal?

Hmmm...
According to the delusional posters who approve of this trade...

Apparently the plan is to bypass all the top 20 talent in future drafts and stockpile as many late first round picks as possible so Henny can show off how good of a drafter he is.

Sound about right?

Maybe. Maybe Afflalo does. Theyre both quite a few years into the NBA and are still putting up the same numbers basically. Give Afflalo a chance to be that scoring SG and see how he does. He has improved every year.

Afflalo isn't that much better than JJ. Doubt he'll ever make an all-star team. Vucevic is a scrub and Philly fans didn't even like him. Harrington is old and doesn't serve a purpose. 3 late first round picks that probably won't be in the league a few years from now.

It sounds like the Orlando Magic will also receive Christian Eyenga in the four-team deal.

He will be 27 at start of the season

They will pay Harden. Specially now with the Lakers and Heat. Probably even pay Ibaka.

???

Yes, that we have actually. Dwight + Duhon + JRich + Clark is about $30+mil cleared. We take back $1.7 Harkless, $8mil Afflalo, $7mil Harrington (but only like $3.5mil guaranteed next year), $1.7 Vucevic. Plus you never know....maybe we throw in another guy (Turk, Q, ?) to clear a lil more room?

Harrington is 50% unguranteed after the next season. Afflalo makes more than J Rich and for more years, negating the loss of Duhon who was only due 1.5 million after this year. Clark is an expiring. So we basically added salary.

I already SAID that Harrington was 50% unguaranteed, thanks. No, you didn't add salary. You cleared caproom. That's all that matters. Ridiculous statement. Vucevic is an expiring too if you wanna go that way.

I still think they couldve gotten Tor Pick which is greater than those 3 picks they'll get combined and some.

Damn straight. That lottery pick alone was better than the entire deal we got.

There is tons of overeaction from Magic and non Magic fans. Dwight the prick screwed our chances of getting more talented players due to his anticts and his stance on Broklyn and later LA. The Magic could have had Bynum if they wanted but they dont because they dont want to keep him long term due to character, injury history and contract demands.

This is the perspective for the Magic right now: tanking and building thru the draft and clearing bad contracts. Getting back a star/veteran is counter productive due to the contract distorting flexibility and lowering the amount of ping pong balls for the lottery. Its going to be a few years but its a process for building long term sustainable success. Draft picks, younger players, and cap space is what we are needing. Its gonna be a tough season this year in terms of winning but I am not going anywhere, I am cheering for the Magic no matter what. The thing is that we need to do a restart.

wow. just got caught up on everything. Harkless/Vucevic (sp?)/Afflalo is an ok start. We should be getting Farried/Turner/ + more in the trade. Those picks are trash. All we can hope for is the top pick next year. If Lakers do not win the title next year, Howard walks. He plus and old Nash, old Kobe, old Gasol...2 year window.

Stephen A Smith is tearing us a new one... ESPN is pretty much laughing at us... I'm about to kill someone... I hate Dwight and I'm upset at our management... sorry

Magicfan41 seriously where do you see that we clear cap space? Show me and I will gladly admit you are right, but I'm pretty sure your talking out of your ass.

The Sixers got more for Iggy than we got for Dwight. Let that marinate....

Considering the fact that a package of Farried/Turner is better than a package of Affalo/Vuvecic (sp)/Harkless, I doubt those are the pieces we're getting.

I am watching SC too. We are a laughing stock. This is terrible. LAL starting lineup looks like an old all star team..plus Jamison off the bench.

If we get Eyenga too....we can't have Harkless/Turk/Eyenga/Q. Something has to budge. I really really think Turk gets sent in this deal, maybe that's the key piece that we are missing as to what pushed Henny over the edge to do this deal? Otherwise why would he?
