Meh. Ross was on fire and Franz was having arguably his worst game of the season. I wouldn't read much into it beyond that.

Even with that, the Magic in crunch time still dialed up Franz with four full blown isolations. He drove and scored on two of them, got fouled on one of them (missed both FTs) and missed a bunny in OT that would have given Orlando the lead.

No disagreement on any of that... but now add Fultz, Cole, and Suggs to the equation and I do wonder what happens to the Franz role. I hope it's not limited because he has proved thus far of being an efficient scorer that makes excellent reads and moves the ball.

the "Rookie Wall" is a real thing and it may be approaching...all of that opportunity wears on a kid. He's awesome, but an off night doesn't worry me, considering the burden he's been carrying.

So when does the rookie of the month come out?

Every other player in the top 8 have missed games on multiple occasions. It's easier to produce better numbers when you're rested. Ross looked like a different player last night because he was rested.

It comes out tomorrow.

Crazy stats vs the rest of the rookies over the entire season so far

Games played = 1
Minutes played = 1
Field goals = 1
3 pointers = 3 (lol)
Free throws = 1
Offensive rebounds = 7
Total rebounds = 5
Assists = 5
Steals = 2
Blocks = 5
Points = 1
FG % = 37 (doh)
3pt % = 21 (doh)
FT % = 19

You're going to make pepe pop a blood vessel and his doctor already told him to de-stress.

Most of those stats are cumulative, not per game. He's having a great season, but the reason he dominates almost every category is because he's been so healthy (knock on wood). Health is a skill too so hopefully it's a good sign, especially with this ridiculous organization.

The percentages are meaningless too because they don't filter out players with only a few minutes.

Maybe a little but I bet Cole's dribbling the air out of the ball is bothering him more

Exactly!

I laughed at a highlight from the Washington game where he does that incredulous expression while he's still mid-dunk. Haha! "Did you not see this foul here??"

Seriously though, he drives hard a lot so it's not surprising that he draws contact. It's fine as long as he's not slow to get back.

I think Moe teaches Franz a lot of bad habits like complaining a lot.

Probably, I’m interested to see how this team comes together when it matters more and the goals change. I’m still giving them a lot of time to build better on court chemistry and for Cole to improve on his decision making.

I'd rather someone complain than be last in the league in FT attempts like our teams during the Vuc era. As long it isn't at the expense of playing defense.

100%. Does he complain too much? Maybe a little but name me one star that doesn't.
