OT - World Cup

Post#1 » by Bay_Areas_Finest » Tue Jun 8, 2010 3:54 pm

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread. I didn't see anything.

alez, get your ass in here. Because...

GO ITALY, BABY! WE ARE TAKING IT ALL THIS YEAR...AGAIN! :rocking: :guitar:

Man, I'm bummed Giuseppe Rossi didn't make the squad. But we still have a strong team. Chiellini and De Rossi are going to be beasts, and Buffon is still the best goalkeeper.

Group F shouldn't be much trouble.

But yes; Discuss the World Cup, everyone. :D

Holland represent!! Imo it will be a very entertaining WC with many hard fought battles. I'm putting my money on Argentina with Messi ruling this WC.. But the Netherlands have a good outside shot.

ahahah LOL i almost forgot the board's greatest homer BAF ready for the biggest chance every 4 years to show off his skills - you got your prediction right in 2006 but this time it's gonna be way tougher with an older, slower and overall worse italian team.

GO ENGLAND

I wish... but half our players are completetly out of shape.

I guess being pessimistic is a good thing... I won't be disappointed if we can't even get past the groups stage.

I was actually looking at making a bet on Portugal. They should win against the Ivory coast without Drogba right???

Forza Italia!

The group stage will be easy, its the later rounds that scare me. But lets be honest, its gonna be spain or brazil. Hopefully Spain, cause I hate the yellow and blue as much as i hate green.

I'm assuming most of you live here in the states, yet you take no pride in your own country in the World Cup. If you're from another country, but live here, I understand. Otherwise, i'm disappointed.

GO USA! :usa:

Come on! Everyone roots against us, but loves brazilian chicks! Its not right!!!

I dont think Portugal has a shot, cuz they lost Nani this week.

Well... lets go Brazil! Im marrying on saturday and from June 13th to June 20th i will be in Argentina and Uruguay in my honeymoon, so i think it will be nice to root for Brazil in these 2 rivals countryies :)

I think its between Brazil, Argentina and Spain:
Brazil: best defense and some great players in the offense (Kaká, Robinho, L Fabiano...)... uahaha! How didnt Dunga take Ronaldinho and Adriano?
Argentina: best offense by far, but their defense is pretty weak.
Spain: Best all-around team

And its obvious we cant take Italy, Germany and Holland out, they always have a shot.

Surprises: Ivory Coast and Paraguay.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this could be the first World Cup in my memory where the US offense is better than the defense. And this is without Davies even making the squad.

None of Goodson, DeMerit or Gooch look like they can run and watch the ball at the same time without tripping. But at least Bob Bradley has conceded that Bornstein isn't an option at LB.

I will enjoy watching the US v England game, but I'm more concerned about the outcome of the other two games.

i'll bite

I have a good reason for not rooting for the USA.

Its all because of the hate that more then half of our country have for the sport. If the US won a world cup it would get worse coverage then the Magic winning an NBA championship. ESPN does a good job covering it, but I get the feeling that some of the guys there reluctantly talk about it. like they are forced to discuss( i cant be the only one that gets this feeling). And dont get me going about local sports guys and news people... they look at the world cup like a joke. All the while a country like Italy or England would celebrate so much that 9 months later there would be a spike in child births. It means so much more to them then it would ever mean to the US.

Thats my reason
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...
