Rumor: Brandon Bass on trading block

nbcsports.msnbc.com"Amidst a strong preseason, the popular speculation in Orlando is that the team is willing to trade Brandon Bass if presented with the right deal.
The likeliest suitor appears to be the Pacers, who could use the help at power forward. However, they are only offering Dahntay Jones or Solomon Jones in return, neither of which is motivating the Orlando higher-ups to move Bass. Bass is part of a cluttered frontcourt reserve unit, and a change of scenery to basically anywhere would raise his fantasy stock."

Great, we lose in the playoffs in large because of lack of size, rebounding, physicality in the paint and we get rid of one of our promising big men who seems to thrive deep in the paint
Makes sense

If it makes sense I'm all for it.

On the other hand the whole thing could be complete BS.

Sounds like it.. this Fantasy Basketball guru seems to just be blowing smoke..
Although i agree it would make sense to trade either Brandon or Ryan...
And that trade just gives a log jam at the 2/3 spot.. the trade is awful and makes no sense for us at all..

Full of BS. Did Orlando just consider to play Anderson as the backup PF after 5 games in the preseason?

It's just Brian Schmitz being desperate for a story.
It’s no secret that Magic power forward Brandon Bass wants to find a place to play, whether it’ s in Orlando or somewhere else.
And the way he’s played lately, he might get his wish — and my guess is the Magic are only waiting for the right deal to come along.
So when was the last time Brian Schmitz guessed anything right?
Yeah...
Even worse is on what his guess is based on:
Bass put together his second consecutive solid game Thursday night, and you know what was odd about it?
Coach Stan Van Gundy started his second team. . . . and the rainy-day lineup didn’t include Bass.
So he wasn’t even in the top 10.
Ryan Anderson started at power forward.
Bass was on the bench with veteran Malik Allen and rookie Stanley Robinson.

Ryan Anderson would get the Magic more of a trade value largely because of the way he can imitate the stretch 4 like Rashard does. I think we should trade Anderson instead of Bass if it ever came down to it. Just like gino said earlier we lose because of lack of size and then we would go and trade the piece that helped us win two games and make a strong comeback at 3-2 last year.
The only way I would trade Bass is if it was to get us a player like Milsap who is a little more polished on the offense or a pure scorer like Jason Richardson to replace Vince Carter if he starts slumping again. Other then that I would be against trading him.

Would you trade Bass for Brandon Rush?

No.. if the guy has fallen out of the rotation in Inidiana, what makes you think he can find a spot in the rotation here..and i liked Rush when came out of the college..

That would make more sense in terms of talent. Dantay Jones 3pt% was 12

but Rush has fallen out of the rotation in Indiana and he doesn't bring toughness and phsycality around the basket which is what this team obviously needs from the 4 spot. I don't think Otis is trying to downgrade the talent on this team anytime soon.

this better be false
we've seen what bass can do playing next to dwight. why the hell would you give up one of the few physical players on this team? otis got him for a reason.
i'm frankly tired of seeing shard and that other kid camping out on the perimeter and jacking up bad 3s and getting bullied in the front court.
if anything trade ryan anderson. soft big men who avoid contact as much as possible and like to shoot are a gem on a lot of nba teams. package him and gortat to philly for iguodala.

Kareem and Brandon Rush are two pretty big wastes of talent...
It runs in the family.

We shouldn't trade ANYONE now.
Reason...
Vince has to go at the trade deadline. I agree that Anderson probably has the higher trade value. Younger, higher ceiling. We may need to include him with Vince in any trade if we have any hope of landing a Carmelo. We'd need a backup at the 4 spot.
For me, it's just a matter of keeping our assets and keeping our flexibility come February if Carmelo is still availabe and if we have the guts to pull of a VC trade.

"The popular speculation" is one of the major generators of rumors. He must be a true insider.
I don't think Otis is into fantasy, this writer is.
