Yeah, but a bowl is a bowl....which is one of the metrics used to gauge the success of a program.

UCF played very well last night. Bortles gained a lot of exposure as did the program during the blowout telecast.

21K there (announced), but so what?

Many high profile programs are going to eat thousands of tickets by participating in a bowl game.

Florida, LSU, Georgia, FSU, along with many others are going to have to pay to play.

I think the fan base's recessionary attitude has finally caught up to the bowls.....overpriced tickets, overpriced hotels, and it's hard for many people to justify the expense of the games.

Plus, the end of the world was near......lol

Bowls have become a scam to only make money for the people who run the bowl. Why do colleges put up with being forced to buy overpriced tickets that otherwise would never sell. Let's be honest, the public doesn't care much for bowls like this.

Plus the bowl organizers get to hide behind the Not for Profit cloak. What a joke.

Bortles has now gone something like 170 passes without an INT. Which is remarkable regardless of who you face. Two more seasons with him, so i'm excited to see him progress. As well as Hall, Perriman, Worton, and Storm. If we can maintain a good O-Line our offense should be really fun to watch the next two years.

Defense needs some work. Sad to see Ishmael go but will be fun to watch him on Sundays. Hopefully the defense can find guys to step up and be that defensive force we've had in the past.

On bowls as a whole, I think fans are getting tired of half the nation going to games and can tell it's just a cash grab. Honestly who cares that we won the beef-o-brady's bowl? It was more important to get a 10th win then to have it be a bowl win IMO.

They got the job done, emphatically. Bravo. Superb performances across the board. ESPN was giving us constant praise (even if they were saying "Central Florida"). A lot of promise for next year. Let's see what happens with the bowl ban stuff now.

what it does help is the younger guys, as they get more coaching during bowl prep. During Saban's first year at Bama, they went to Shreveport. Some fans took exception, but Saban said he would go because he got to continue to coach the young players. The next year the team started off 12-0.

It looked like something 'clicked' with Bortles last night...not that he has been playing badly, but that was the most confident and aggressive I have ever seen him.

And hopefully that was a bit of a coming out for Perriman as well...I see some Brandon Marshall in him (the good, non-crazy stuff) with another year of strength training under his belt.

And like a lot of people, I was not really enthused about the opportunity to play in the Random Anonymous Bowl. But after the team's performance last night, I am really glad we did it.

I need to remind myself constantly that Bortles still has 2 full seasons ahead of him. Blake can finish his UCF career off as an all-time great.

I'm excited for Perriman.

Rumors are saying it's Butch Davis to FIU.

Interesting hire if this is true.

Maybe Davis can create a "boy, what have I done to myself bowl" during the regular season with western kentucky coach Bobby Petrino.

Or, maybe the two coaches could square off in a ....."how fast can I get another job bowl"

UCF gets a potentially nice transfer OT.

Originally recruited by FSU, then ND, now UCF.....I guess we'll see if he gets his head on straight, and stays involved with the books

Boise is officially gone, and I would assume that SDS will follow.

UGH

In this week's edition of "UCF Bad News".

At this point nothing would surprise me, including the complete dissolve of the conference and UCF having to find a new home.

I think the conference will survive in some form.

But, no TV contract, membership wavering, scheduling for future games in question......it's going to be interesting.

It's just disappointing that things have turned out this way......

The real problem will be if we lose the texas teams to the MWC.

Ucf hosts usf tonight. Too bad classes aren't going on as the student turnout probably won't be as strong as it could be
