POLL: Is Ryan Anderson Untouchable

I've been seeing many on this board calling Ryan "Untouchable", and that even in a trade for Ellis or Nash they do not want to see Anderson included. It baffles me how those posters want to 'have their cake and eat it too'....

..But for curiosity's sake, I was really interested in seeing where this board stands in terms of getting Dwight help before the deadline.. Is he really the next Kevin Love (Some said "Dirk" ), or is he just a product of playing next to a superstar center who demands extra attention in a stretch 4 system.

You should have a "depends" kind of option.

I say no, he's not untouchable. Dwight is the important one here, and until he's locked up, he should be the only untouchable here.

Imo he's untouchable in a trade involving Steve Nash. In a trade involving Monta Ellis if it takes Ryno being traded to make it happen, do it.

Depends on if it's Lebron? lol... seriously though I don't think there's much middleground, those are the "impact" guys on the market, and this is the guy we have to offer.

Edited my post. I said he's not untouchable BTW, I actually agree with you.

even though i agree with the op, the options are terribly enunciated.

That's why I said he should at least add a "depends" option or something like that.

NO, but for different reasons.

He's not untouchable, but if he's a part of ANY deal than Orlando needs to get MAJOR value in return. He's a young player on the rise, a good young piece. Every trade I have seen involving him and Dwight involve using him as filler, and honestly Orlando gets @$%^@# in every single one of those deals.

So no he's not untouchable, but they BEST get something really good in return if he goes with Dwight.

No, you don't trade Anderson for a border line all star in Ellis or a 3 year rental in Nash. Yes, Anderson could very likely become an All Star, even if his only real chance of that happening is by being voted in by the coaches.

If you're not willing to move Anderson, you shouldn't even be talking about trading for All-Stars players or making any substantial improvements. We are going to have to be lucky or commit highway robbery for us to land a big name player while keeping him off the market. We have almost nothing else to offer.

Ideally we would give up Nelson and Redick (hopefully we can interest someone in taking Hedo too), but if push comes to shove, you have to be ready to put Ryan on the block. Just in case.

You have to remember that the end-goal here is to keep Howard. If Dwight was committed to staying, then maybe you could consider him untouchable. But Dwight is on the verge of leaving so we are going to have to make some hard decisions.

It depends on the trade. If it's for Nash, yes, he's untouchable. If it's for Ellis, I say you make the deal, especially if a deal includes DLee.

Regardless of the situation, I'd really like to keep Ryan. He's young and I'd like to see him as a Magic product that can grow with this team and be a cornerstone. I used to be pretty mum on him. If you asked me at the beginning of the season who I'd have starting at PF, I had Ryan behind Davis. But his shooting is off the charts, and his rebounding has gotten better as the season has gone on. He has definitely improved as the season has gone on, which has made me progressively more hesitant to trade him. The growth he has shown on the glass gives me confidence that he's capable of becoming a very good player for a long time.

But there are very few guys with talent and a skill set like Monta. Pairing a legit scorer with Dwight has been near impossible. If you get that opportunity, I believe that you have to do it. A 1,2 punch like that is necessary in the grind it out playoff games. Ryan isn't a game changer in the playoffs, yet.

This is why Dwight's commitment is so important. We could potentially give up Ryan to appease Howard, with the risk of losing Howard still looming. If Dwight leaves, and we'd have traded Ryan, I'd be pretty disappointed. Ryan isn't a guy to build your franchise around. But if we're going to rebuild, Ryan is an excellent young piece to have going forward.

I don't consider him untouchable even in a trade for Steve Nash

No one is untouchable. I would try every possible way to upgrade the team without letting him go, but if we can make a real blockbuster trade I would do it.
Letting Anderson go without receiving a replacement would be extremely stupid. He's a very important part of our team.
