And with the way Stern likes to reward teams who lose superstars (cle/lebron NO/cp3), if we are that close, wouldnt surprise me if we get #1 overall

i wouldn't mind if he used this year to reward phoenix for losing nash, and waited until next year to reward us for losing dwight...

I'll be perfectly happy with top 6 pick this year, then #1 next year.

We don't have luck, we have Pat Williams.

Harrington is set to return, so this could be net neutral. Unless GM Hennigan is fully committed to "player development" and trades him and McRoberts.

I can see Washington passing us up, but I think we'll still be ahead of both Charlotte and Cleveland. With the 3rd worst record, anything is possible.

I'm thinking the same, I'm convinced Orlando will get the #1 pick this year, and not the following when it means 100x more. I won't complain though, I love McLemore

I would feel the least confident at #1 strangely, but would like 2,3,or4. I think all are within our grasp.

In Pat We Trust...I would love to see the man get a couple more stabs at it. The Pat Williams hat trick. Over the next 2 seasons we will get a couple very useable draft picks. Fear not Magic fans, one more year of this.

Totally agree with you.

Only three #1 picks have had meaningful impacts toward NBA Championships in the past 12 years: Shaquille ('92), Tim Duncan ('97) and LeBron ('03).

While the following doesn't necessarily correlate with talent level (except for the first one), this is just the way the world has turned for #1 overall picks:

Kwame Brown (the tragic beginning of MJ's second legacy)
Yao Ming (retired, injuries)
LeBron James (MVP, not once, not twice...)
Dwight Howard (3x DPOY, but suffering from injuries)
Andrew Bogut (just returned from injuries)
Andrea Bargnani (currently injured)
Greg Oden (retired, but returning? injuries)
Derrick Rose (MVP, but injured)
Blake Griffin (doing well)
John Wall (recently returned from injuries)
Kyrie Irving (doing well)
Anthony Davis (doing well)

Can you also list all the 2nd picks?

Edit: actually, I looked through it.. for those years you listed, most 2nd overalls are busts. Only Durant is a superstar.. so yea, give me the 1st pick. Also, many of you trusted hennigan's judgments, so you'd have to trust that he'll get the best player with the 1st pick.

Some recent #2 picks, Okafor, Marvin Williams, Beasley, Darko, Jay Williams, Stromile Swift, Thabeet, Evan Turner, and Derrick Williams, Id rather be at #1 and trust the GM to make the right pick

Never had watched video on Wiggins before just now, :o . Tank mode initiated. It's a long time to suck but that dude is just not right. Not completely sure the rim was regulation. The tank could be pretty full next year.

Teams will be tanking left and right. The competition at the bottom will be fierce.

Thanks to the Magic with the Shaq/Penny drafts, NBA doesn't allow consecutive #1 picks anymore I believe. So we'd secretly want #2 this year and #1 next year (thinking very optimistically of course, b/c best chance of #1-2 is still only 25-30% chance). Could you imagine if we got McLemore at #2 to play off the ball from Wiggins, with JJ (or Afflalo) shooting hot off the bench?

is that a real thing or NBA draft conspiracy real?
