Players available when the Magic tabbed Sasser: Gerald Wallace, Sam Dalembert, Jamaal Tinsley, Tony Parker, Gilbert Arenas, Brian Scalabrine, Mehmet Okur, Earl Watson, Bobby Simmons, Loren Woods, Jarron Collins. A suite of interesting players were also left undrafted: Carlos Arroyo, Charlie Bell, Maurice Evans, Linton Johnson, Jamario Moon, Andrés Nocioni.

So in a draft were Kwame Brown went #1 overall, 17 players drafted AFTER Sasser had good to great careers.

Orlando not only got a scrub in Sasser, there were loads of draftable players available. That if Orlando had drafted Brian Scalabrine would be a story line of "a better pick" shows how horrible Sasser was.

The Irishman was a great story. I recall that he was discovered in a YMCA playing Summer pick-up games in Altamonte Springs or Apopka (I cannot recall). He ended up started on opening night that year; the Magic won the game.
