I wasn't sky-high on Oladipo but the more I think about it the more I like it. Great work ethic and motor. You know he is going to be a locker room leader and will never give up on the defensive end. Will probably consistently improve every year and won't get into trouble off the court. What I'm wondering is what does Rob expect out of him on the offensive end? Is this just a weak draft class so we went with the sure-thing Tony Allen esque guy at #2? Or does Rob think he is more Iguodala than Allen on the offensive end??

I'm hoping they think Victor can play the point.

What makes a speculation thread official? What is stopping other posters to start theirs?

I thought it was the format and math.

Yep, I've come around to it too.

I think Hennigan is building a team of guys who will all be capable of executing plays, like the Spurs. They have moments where Parker runs the plays (predominantly), but they also have Manu, Duncan, Kawhi, Green and Neal all initiating offense at points too.

I can envision Harris running a lot of ISOs and p&r's with Vuc, Dipo running some p&r's, and otherwise, Dipo and Harkless running non stop off screens to get open. Will be very tiring for opponents to defend.

Bbd has a better chance of doing that.

Yeah, Fendi, you may wanna copy and paste the first post from the last spec thread and update it to LVIII, and give it a title "Orlandipo thread" or whatever.

OP: I'd update the title to include the volume in the series of threads, just to keep count. Thanks for creating it. :)

The Orlando Magic will bring in Matthew Dellevadova and Rodney McGruder for Summer League, per @GoodmanESPN. Joining Clanton & Slaughter.

McGruder destroyed my Gators last season.

Running plays? BBD would be fine if he didn't have such a tendency of becoming a black hole.

I like what the Nets did, I'd like to be in the nets' fan's kind of situation. Many are obsessed with the financial aspect of it under the new CBA, and the picks they traded.

Regarding the picks they now have a Mark Cuban type of ownership, maybe even more agressive, what will those picks be worth anyway?

Regarding the financial aspect; that billionaire either knows finances pretty well and/or is well advised, he's in a big market too, so the budget and financial considerations are special (maybe he's laundering money which would be awful but he;s innocent until proven otherwise).

So 2-3 years from now when Garnett and Pierce are gone, guess what? he may have another Reggie Evans + Gerald Wallace to turn into one or two all stars to replace them.

McGruder & Dellevadova are 2 really solid guys to bring in.

Should have completed the sentence.

Bbd has a better chance of playing the point than dipo does. White chocolate would come to the arena with kids and jump out of the stands to play the point in street clothes and flip-flops before dipo would. That is how unlikely I think dipo becoming 1-guard.

I was actually typing up a response to your post in the last spec thread when you made this post.. but I agree. I am thinking (and hoping) that Rob sees Oladipo becoming a Iguodala/Gerald Wallace type of slasher with some playmaking capabilities and the ability to initiate the offense (eventually). He definitely won't ever become a gunner but if his jumpshot can continue to develop then he should be able to shoot within the offense, which is what we need.

I still hold a lot of hope that Dipo is gonna attack the rim like a beast, and start getting to the line. Once he gets a taste for that, and the refs give him calls, it will change his game dramatically.

Let me guess, we're bringing in high character guys to our summer league team.

I don't see Dipo as a PG, but potentially filling an Iggy-style role as a playmaker/facilitator.
