Official Draft Thread 3: Picks #4 and #12

Post#1 » by magic22s » Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:59 am

Embiid's recent injury has made this draft more interesting.

Let's continue our discussion for Magic's picks at #4 and #12.

I want Magic to win a championship instead of mediocrity for

the years to come. Let's take the risks and draft the player

with the most upside to help Magic win a championship!

We need a merge of the new threads. Embiid hasn't made the draft interesting for me, he has made it confusing and annoying!

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise and Magic can get our next dominant center since Shaq and Dwight.

Embiid is to much of a risk, we might regret not taking him, we might also regret taking him and setting us back a season. It's a franchise player or nothing, against a likely all-star player or starter. I would rather take the starter

So this is where we're at. Assuming we don't trade up and Exum is gone it will be Embiid. Vonleh or Smart. :banghead: Even if Embiid checks out and he is our pick, we'll always be worried that his next play will be his last. Vonleh? Who knows if he'll turn into a good NBA player. Smart? To me he's just a bigger Jameer. Of course this is just all my opinion, but after stomaching another terrible season I was sure hoping for more excitement come Thursday. I understand why Pat looked so distraught when he found out we got the #4 pick. Maybe we will be shocked with a franchise changing trade. That's my hope, but probably not likely.

Why is ones willingess to part with Harris have to mean hes being bashed? People are too sensitive about him.
Parker is better than Harris right now scoring the ball, I dont give a **** if hes played in the nba yet or not. defensively harris might be slightly better guarding sf's but I would take parkers elite scoring over harris's marginally better defense all day.
It isnt a prerequisite to hate or bash harris if someone thinks we could get a better player in the long run if hes traded..geez.

That wasn't the trade people were bashing. Using Harris to move from 12 to 8 is dumb.

FML...I don't even... You know what? Youre right bro.. Smart and Jameer shoot the same jameer is just as good a defender, smart handles the rock just like nelson. Youre right, no, difference smart is just bigger.

Unless the sixers find a taker for MCW, i really dont see them drafting Exum. Vonleh fits better for what they are trying to do and they have time to develop him. draft a 2 guard with the 10 pick. They wont find a quality big man at the 10 spot, so they have a better chance in getting a solid big man prospect at 3 then at 10.

MCW
Stauskas
Thad
Vonleh
Noel

Thats a team to roll with in the future and looks bright.

Am I the only one that doesn't see this as the end of the world?
I like the prospect of getting either Embiid/Payton or Vonleh/Payton.

yes..yes you are...
:)
Nah, I like Payton for sure. I'm legitimately concerned about Embiids injuries, and I cant completely get on board with vonleh at 4. Im confident our FO will make the right decision.

Orlando Magic: The Orlando Magic are absolutely open for business as one rival executive put it. Although there have been several reports suggesting specific packages and offers, sources close to the process say the team isn’t nearly that close to a deal to be hammering on specifics. The Magic are said to have the entire team on the table for the right combination of assets. The Magic hold the fourth and 12th picks in Thursday’s draft and have been angling to move up in the draft, possibly into one of the top two picks. Sources say there really is not much that’s off limits in talks and that Orlando is willing to listen to overtures on their own picks in trade down scenarios too. The Chicago Bulls have been linked most prominently to a deal with Orlando involving shooting guard Arron Afflalo, although sources say that’s not likely happening on draft night, but it’s still very much in play. The dark horse to obtain Afflalo still remains the Charlotte Hornets, who have long coveted him and are willing to give up the ninth pick and a roster player to do it.

Like the Cavaliers the Magic have a number of options they are weighing, but the smart money says despite the chatter the Magic likely end up where they are at four and 12, but they are working through the process and are willing to deal.

Keep an eye on Jameer Nelson on draft night; his $8 million contract is only partially guaranteed for next season, meaning for $2 million in cash, a team could clear $6 million in cap space. For those teams looking hard at free agents like Carmelo Anthony, Nelson’s contract is fairly attractive.

I wonder who the Cha roster player is? If we get 9, that's prime spot for Stauskas. It would've been Saric, but he's dropped a little with recent news.

could potentially have 4, 9, 12. If Cle wants 4 + 12, let them have it, do the Afflalo/Cha deal, and pick 1 & 9. Too good & easy to be true.

Nah, you give them 4 and 9. They want an extra top 10 pick. Keep the 12 and trade 4,9, and either Harkless or 4,9 and a future first protected. I know people think its a haul, but this draft is not like last years and teams in the top 3 value those picks more than most drafts.

Apparently my post screwed up. But i said you gotta give them 4 and 9 and keep 12. Clev has made it clear they want another top 10 pick. so either 4,9, and Harkless or 4,9 and a future first protected. I know its a haul to get one, but teams in the top 3 value those picks more than ever. Its gonna take a lot to get that first pick.

Does anyone know what the Warriors gave us for Webber back in the day for number 1?

Clev, wants all 3 and Rob prob wont part will 4,12 and AA. I say we will stay at 4 and 12 and if the player we want is there at 9 Rob does the deal for AA and Charlotte.
