The case for Mario Hezonja
Well I've seen threads for WCS and Kristaps figured I would make one for Hezonja. See alot of people talking about him in other threads but I always lose were it's at. Be nice to organize everyone's thoughts about him in here.
If Porzingis is gone I'm really drinking the Mario Kool-aid. Mario and Porzingis both have all the physical tools to succeed in the NBA and most importantly both will hopefully help in our shooting woes. Anyways all in for Mario if Porzingis is gone. Kinda bummed Mario couldn't come over for a workout.

The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

I really like his attitude and I'm convinced what we need most is an excellent shooter.

If we get a big with the 5th pick. Like Porzingis, would you guys b ok with trading Fournier, harkless and a future 2nd round pick to Pistons for their pick this year to grab Hezonja? ..

Is that "By 2017" because Hezonja will not be coming over this year? Doesn't he have something like $2,000,000 buyout?

Re: The case for Mario Hezonja
It's about time this thread was made!
I'm on board 100% with Super Mario
Besides his confident demeanor and size his shooting percentages are outstanding, he would really help the balance of our offensive attack. And when focused his defense is very good, I've seen clips of him hounding through screens and was very impressed.

Re: The case for Mario Hezonja
I think hes the kind of killer instinct that teams need...
"Respect? No, I never had respect to anybody on a basketball court," Hezonja told Sportando. "I heard about, ‘If they smell blood, you get eaten.' I'm not like that. I don't care. Whether it's a veteran or a young player standing in front of me I always have the same goal. I want to run over everybody."
"He got fire in him. I like that. Sometimes he speaks when he's not supposed to. But that's good," Barcelona center Maciej Lampe said in 2013. "I think he's going to develop into a great player one day. He's just to keep his head cold and keep on working every day and learning. I like him a lot as a player and a person. He's definitely ... how can I say this ... he's like a killer out there."
"Before practice he's the first one in the gym. After practice, he's the last one to leave," said Joey Dorsey, a former teammate of Hezonja. "And I told him that's what every NBA player does. Every great NBA players stays after and ask coaches questions, go over defensive schemes and stuff like that. If he does that and keeps working on his game, he can be really good."
Hezonja was asked earlier this year if he went to go see soccer legend Lionel Messi play for FC Barcelona. He responded: "Let Messi come to see me." That quote sums him up.

or that confidence and competitive drive will help him through the struggles that every young player entering the NBA goes through...
...remember when everyone outside of Durham hated JJ Redick's cocky attitude and loved the cool mellow team guy from Gonzaga?...

Theres something to be said for his no fear fk the world attitude though... I think that is that this team needs. If he could channel it in a good way I think its a huge strength. The worry is that he becomes a right pain in the @ss when he doesn't get minutes right away and doesn't want to buy into a team approach. I guess they are things that you cant know until you get to know the guy, just gotta hope Rob has good contacts for him...

There are guys like this on playgrounds in NYC who think they could give Bron buckets even though they never even made it to college ball. They believe it too.
Talking a big game is fine, I actually love cocky **** talkers, but this guy hasn't even done anything.
He's a 15mpg bench player averaging less then 6 points a game who talks like he's LeBron. **** doesn't add up to me.
How that fact does not even give the slightest pause to some of you guys is beyond me.

Re: The case for Mario Hezonja
I'm all in for Mario.
He is extremely athletic, can shoot lights out, can drive the ball, and also has all the physical tools to be a great defender. I think its awesome to see how much he can impact the game in limited mins. You can tell he loves the game. I actually love his confidence and fire. I don't see him being a headcase with our team, and actually think we can use someone with his attitude.
Johnathan Givonny compares him to a more athletic Klay Thompson and thinks hes the 3rd best player in the draft behind Towns and Okafor, with Hezonja having a higher ceiler than Okafor. I'm sold.

Marios attitude is his biggest strength and weakness. Something tells me it will turn rob off and will ultimately be the reason why we pass on him. I think the Kobe comp is a huge reach but I would say his ceiling is a more athletic Klay Thompson.

that's an all-star player since a less athletic Klay Thompson is an all-star already

Sure is. I don't doubt his ability for one second. He can be as good as he wants to be but his mouth could get him in trouble especially with a head coach like Skiles.
