Next order of business, backup PG. Do we sign a vet or wait until summer league is over to see what we have with Siva?
Jameer Nelson
Jeremy Lin
CJ Watson
Aaron Brooks
Sergio Rodriguez
Marcelo Huertas
My personal fav option is to trade for Jarrett Jack (Nets).

Has some maturity issues to work through, let's hope he does. He will be 26/27 when this deal is up and will be in his prime by then.
Oh, and you aren't paying 16 mil for a 6th man, so let's all just stop with that. Vuc and Harris guaranteed starters.

I'm glad you're a good sport about it because you are going to have to eat quite a bit of crow

As you can see, I have removed your "Tobias is just a guy" quote from my sig

Got posted in the other thread, then promptly the thread got locked, but was posted there were no options either way on the Tobias deal. I guess part of the compromise was he couldn't get out early and get a even bigger payday. I want to believe that Rob and his group is already planning ahead the financials for resigning all our guys as they become stars. Maybe that's wishful thinking.

Considering the money that is being thrown around Tobias got a fair contract with the incoming cap increase. Keeping Harris and drafting Mario, there is now quite a glut of talent at the 2 & 3 spots and I feel like it's just a matter of time before people start to turn on dipo as some on this board already have. I view dipo as a more important piece than Harris but someone will end up being the odd man out in the next couple years because of money, diminished role, or lack of a role increase, it will be interesting to see how the franchise handles all of the young talent on this roster.

So is anyone gonna comment about the fact that last October Hennigan & Co. reportedly refused to give Tobias an extension for more than ~$9M/yr, and now, less than a year later, they're re-signing him for $16M/yr?

So much young talent. With the salary cap going sky high we can keep them together unlike Okc did. I refuse to believe that we won't be contending soon, too much talent.

I'm googling the hell out of that, and can't find anything related to it.
Anyone have any links???
The closest thing I can find is that Tobias wanted 13-14 million per year, and the Magic wanted the market to dictate his value.
EDIT - Found something.
Here’s my theory as to why the Magic didn’t negotiate past the supposed $8 million or $9 million per year the franchise initially offered to Tobias.

I'm pretty sure the main reason was this...
If we had locked him up earlier this year for the supposed $12m/yr he and his agent wanted (we only reportedly offered $9m), then we wouldn't have had the necessary cap room this summer to be able to go after the Millsap type guy and throw $20m/year at them. So by waiting, and going after one of those guys before dealing with Tobias, we gave ourselves the opportunity to land both a max guy AND keep Tobias (by matching an offer or re-signing him over cap with bird rights). So essentially we gambled that we could use the extra space to go after a big guy like Millsap, and we were willing to gamble paying Tobias a little extra to have that opportunity in free agency.

Anyone know how much cap space we'll have after the Tobias deal?
