Dewayne Dedmon - Rim Protector

Post#1 » by magicship » Mon Aug 3, 2015 4:54 am

Who thinks that we could have our rim protector we need in house with Dedmon? Before you think this is crazy, Skiles turned Sanders into an excellent rim protector and I really was never high on Sanders. Here below are the 2 player comparisons:

Phisical Tools

Sanders = ht - 6'10.5" wingspan - 7'5.75" no step vert - 25.5 max vert - 28.0

Dedmon = 6'11.5" wingspan - 7'4" no step vert - 28.0 max vert - 32.5

Per 36 Mins stats at same age 25

Sanders = pts - 11.0 rebs -10.2 blk - 2.5 stl - 1.1

Dedmon = pts - 9.2 rebs - 12.6 blk - 2.1 stl - 0.7

I believe either Vuc of Dedmon will improve as our needed defensive anchor center under Skiles. Dedmons contract becoming guaranteed is what got me thinking.

Dedmon has no grace about him. I don't think skiles can help him too much

Yes he can. He can help him teaching him about proper positioning and such.

My bad, meant this for his offense. He has potential for D but no grace on offense (missed dunks and layups)

I think a yoga or dance or something with balance and rhythm could help a bit, but there is only so much change you can make in a 25 year old.

Everyone should greatly improve defensively and yes I'd bet for Dewayne at this point until he proves me wrong.

Deddy will improve greatly under Skiles. Glad we're keeping him.

He needs to quit fouling so much, but he definitely has some potential. If he can improve in that area and stops turning the ball over so much, he could be a 20 minute per game type of player off the bench.

With Skiles, historically defensive impact has earned more minutes than offensive impact. If he can stay out of foul trouble, he'll be on the floor a lot.

Ben Wallace didn't start becoming a monster until he was older than Deadman, so it is good to continue to see how he develops.

you have said this general statement multiple times, one that i agree with. People seem to think that what you see with a player at 20/21 is what you get for their career. Jason Kidd actually learned to become a decent shooter in his later 20's, you have also mentioned Rodman's later development. Players can improve and get better more than 1 year after entering the league
