Acquiring a Superstar this season?

Post#1 » by T-Cat » Sun Aug 16, 2015 9:08 pm

I know it's early, but if we could acquire a superstar this season who would it be?

We already know LBJ, Durant and a healthy D12 might be hard to obtain but I really like Kobe Bryant for this young team!

He is on the last year of his contract and our young guys would learn so much from him and what it takes to win!

Could you imagine Oladipo, Gordon and Hezonja in practice with the black Mamba?

Have you seen his contract? Imagine what we would have to give up for a broken down version of Kobe. Other than that, no.

I think if we went after a superstar it wouldn't be for a one year rental. If you have to give up valuable assets, you want to get long term results.

Vomit over having Kobe here. He'd do as much for this franchise as tree Rollins. I would rather our young core do well enough that we didn't need to trade for a superstar than to give up a ton for an over the hill one.

Kobe Bryant? You've been around since 2004 and you're suggesting we trade for Kobe **** Bryant?

He makes the most money in the NBA and isn't even a top 50 player at this point.

We won't be acquiring a superstar.

I heard Rob was trying to acquire LBJ by the deadline. He is much younger than Kobe but these players would do wonder for our overall team, we need to win badly!

So the theory of acquiring either LBJ, KD or even Kobe is worth it (even for a possible one year rental) cause they could bring us to title contention NOW!

FYI, I only want to give Tobias Harris and Jason Smith for Kobe (considering his age), but our players would soak up a lot from a legend is priceless!

kobe **** bryant has a NTC and he sure as hell is not waiving it to come here

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

There's no superstar within realistic reach that would be worth gutting this team's core talent for, which is what it would require to entice their current team to trade them away.

The only 'superstar' I can see being available this season is Melo should the Knicks start badly and Phil try to cash in on Anthony whilst he still can.

Would we want him? Would he want to come here? My guess is no to both.

I would rather see Henny pull off another Harris/Vuc type trade

As far as potentially attainable stars, its really only Melo and Paul George. Melo isn't the kinda guy I want here, and his timeline doesn't fit with our guys, and PG is a huge question mark given he is returning from an injury. He is certainly the most likely however. IF he recovers well from his injury, and IF the Pacers suck miserably before the deadline, I could see the Magic showing interest in a trade package revolving around Tobias and the Lakers pick.

Other than that, I think it may be possible for us to look for a veteran/aging star, someone to come in and be out closer. Kind of how Paul Pierce was for the Wiz last year. Or alternatively, a veteran defensive anchor.

Hennigan would do what's best for the organization! We have the pieces to get this team over the hump! Just like Hinkie, we have valuable assets to make a big move!

If we Hennigan feels we can

win a title NOW by giving up valuable pieces to get whoever, he will do it!

I just would not rather give up AG, EP,VO and Super Mario to do it!

I agree! This city deserves better and winning a championship in this league is hard to do!

If we can get that opportunity we have to jump on it!

Henny has proved he can draft and manage, so I have faith in him to take a chance and shoot for the stars!

Pull a Danny Ainge in 2007! Lol

T-Cat, are you serious? I only ask because you forgot the green font.

Kobe is a team killer at this point in his career. He has always been an ego-maniac who kills team chemistry but he was so amazing for so long that it didn't matter. Those days are far behind us and no team in the league is trading anything but a very bad, long term contract for Kobe. We sure as **** wouldn't trade any of our core players for him.

If the Kobe nonsense was rediculous enough are you really talking up aqcuiring Lebron or Durant as if it would actually happen?

Dude...

Man I was hoping that guy was Cousins. I really wanted us to move #5 and Vucevic for him. Maybe we'll get another shot in a year or two.
