Magic Release 2015-2016 Preseason Schedule

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:29 pm

Guys,

The Magic's Preseason Schedule is now out. The real question is how many preseason games will be televised? For all the RSN money and how The NBA is growing, you would figure they would start airing more preseason games.

The preseason sucks when you cannot see the damn games.

Oct. 3 CHARLOTTE 7 p.m.

Oct. 7 @ Miami (Louisville, KY) 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 9 @ Indiana 7 p.m.

Oct. 11 @ Houston (Hidalgo, TX) 8 p.m.

Oct. 13 MIAMI 7 p.m.

Oct. 17 @ Flamengo (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) 5 p.m.

Oct. 21 NEW ORLEANS 7 p.m.

Oct. 23 MEMPHIS 7 p.m.

I'll never understand the lack of coverage for preseason.

At least we have a game early on. Oct 3 means we are 44 days away! I can see the goal line!

Of all of those games, I think the only one we won't be able to watch is the Oct. 7 game in Kentucky. Although the Heat are usually pretty good about televising their pre-season games. Usually those venues don't have the facilities to broadcast the game unless a dedicated crew go down there. The rest will be on TV or there will be a stream from the jumbotron. The Rockets are usually pretty good about televising their pre-season games too. The Indiana game will probably be their jumbotron feed with their radio guy going "BOOM BABY!" every time they hit a 3. We'll be cheap and only broadcast one or 2 home games at most.

With all the money The NBA is making, you would think they would want all of their preseason games on TV.

I remember when not all Magic games were on TV, then when we had a special channel on Bright House that you had to wait for the HD signal to come on (Sometimes it didn't come on until 30 mins into the game), then when we got a 24/7 HD channel with not all games in HD until finally getting all regular season games in HD.

Heak, we even get all Magic Summer League games in HD.

The local TV contracts have also increased and FS Florida is also one of the highest priced channels on our cable bills who do not have much weekday programming during October.

We have given them a raise over the years via paying more on our cable bills for the channel. How about giving us a raise with airing all local Magic preseason games.

We might get another team's feed some nights via League Pass.

That will help a little.

Houston usually plays a game in their D-League Affiliate's home arena.

I believe The Magic have played there at least once in previous years.

I'm fine just watching the boxscores. I can look at that and see how well they're doing. That usually holds me over for the 3-4 weeks of preseason.

I connected my laptop to my TV via HDMI cable and watched most games this way however, after the midseason i started using the mobile app on my phone/tablet. Reason below...

The web version of league pass suffered from serious lag/blurry video and frequently cutout all together(if you've watched illegal streams like frontrow you'll recognize this), mostly during the free trial periods(which seem to happen 3-4 times a year), large market games and WORST OF ALL end of close games when everyone starts watching!

The mobile app was much more reliable (95%) but I couldn't watch on a large screen via chromecast. Hopefully this changes next season.

Also if a game is broadcast nationally( ESPN, TNT, and NBAtv) you are SOL. Which means you're gonna use illegal streams anyways

This was my experience living in New England with no cable or satellite. Online only.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

You're right, they have. I live in Houston, so it'd have been nice to see them during the preseason at a cheaper price.

Are preseason games still pretty fun to go to? Just realized I'll be in town the night before. Thinking about sticking around for the day to see the game with an old buddy of mine.
