ATTN: Adamthegreek SUBJECT: Orlando Magic supporters' section?

Post#1 » by O-zone » Tue Nov 10, 2015 3:20 am

I'm relatively new to this kinda thing - mods please lock this thread if it's unnecessary (thank you).

I was told recently by a relative that the Orlando Magic are considering adding a supporters' section to the arena ala Orlando City SC Ruckus and Iron Lion Firm.

My relative told me that Adam Papageorgiou (Orlando Magic Greek?) tweeted him that it was a possibility for next season? Can I get a firm answer for this please? I'm a huge Orlando City fan and I think a supporters' section would be cool for our home atmosphere. I think the Houston Rockets' Red Rowdies are the only other supporters I know in the NBA.

I'd suggest sending him a pm rather than making a thread. He's in the UCF thread, last post, just click the "contact" icon.

From what I've been told, they tried to do it this year but couldn't get all the season ticket holders in a section to agree to move. They do hope to do it next year, but i'd imagine it's too soon for anything to be set in stone.

Kinda sad that a designated area is needed for "supporters".

Seems many teams have a "rowdy" fan section now.

Man, that would be great. I feel awkward sometimes at the things I say when i'm excited.

Why would I want to be rowdy when I can surf social media on my phone, drink overpriced drinks, and listen to Scotty B spin the hottest jamz of the early 2000's?

It'd just be nice if the entire arena could get rowdy on account of the game itself. It's still so weird to me that when you go to an arena over here they have to use the jumbotron, shoot t-shirt cannons or send cheerleaders/mascots into a section to encourage people to make some noise and get into the game.

Don't forget some arenas actually play audio of cheering over speakers, so you think it's getting loud and join in.

Just how it is with most NBA crowds... they don't have the energy to keep it going all game unless it's the playoffs.
