I wanted more value out of the deal back then but it looks like it all worked out for the best. He certainly peaked at the right time. Great call by Hennigan.

If his Value was as high as in the year before we got him we could of netted a Top15 pick aka Giannis,Gobert,CJ or even Another 2014 or 2015 pick

We actually got the short end of the stick at the time. Somehow, hennigan usually has the last laugh in trades.

That's not how i view it. I knew fournier was a helluva player before we got him and im pretty sure opposing scouts and gms viewed him that way as well.

I really wouldn't be surprised if we moved him at the deadline for a 4.

Fournier and Vučević for Cousins might be plausible at this time. The problem with this is Orlando is still short a starting PF.

heh realgm hot takes people had a fit about that trade, turns out it was pretty good

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Yeah no one liked that trade at the time.

Personally I was always pushing for Afflalo for Reggie Jackson (pre Elfrid) but I'm happy with Fournier.

It's always fun to go back and revisit the reactions of the board when trades go down... http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1330089#start_here

My early impressions/evaluation of him:
Fournier actually looks pretty good. If we didn't have such high expectations for using afflalo in trades, we'd probably be more positive about getting this guy. He's got size, looks like he plays calm and in control, makes 3s, drives and makes the right play. In 12 games where he averaged 30+ minutes this past season, he averaged 19 pts with 42% from 3pt, 5 reb, 3 ast. Not bad for a sophomore player off the bench. He also put up similar numbers as a rookie when given the opportunity.

That's the original thread after the trade was announced. (Please don't bump it/flame people, but just enjoy the quality reactions. One of my favourites is the Hornets fan who came to gloat afterwards because there had previously been a rumour of Afflalo for their no.9 pick that hadn't panned out. Hindsight is obvs. 20/20, but we actually ended up with a better deal, it seems.)

The best part is after gloating about how we didn't get their 9th pick they ended up using it on Vonleh. Who they traded for an expiring 2 guard (Batum).

You sure got the last laugh Charlotte.
