I am so dang happy for Andrew Nicholson

Post#1 » by Destin » Fri Dec 4, 2015 5:16 am

He has stuck through it.. he rode the bench.. Even his interviews have become watchable. I've always liked this kid and thrilled that Coach is letting him contribute.

I'm so happy for him too. I made a loving, caring post about him in the GB:

I hope someone still remembers who he is.

Me too, now he won't be considered a throw in when we trade him.

Jk. He's been nothing short of a pleasant surprise, absolutely love what he's doing out there. Great spark off the bench with oladipo

Nicholson and Dipo off the bench are causing havoc. He has established himself as an important rotation player. I wanted him to start, but coming off the bench gives us a great one-two punch combo with Dipo.

Top 8 player on a contender... and it doesn't even feel wrong saying it.

Actually, him starting isn't such a stretch. He's essentially a better Channing Frye. Floor spacer who can do everything Frye can do, and some things Frye can't do.

Not that Frye isn't giving us effective minutes, because he is. But if we could find something useful on the trade market for Frye, we should absolutely do it, and then let Nicholson start. Assuming you believe what Nicholson is doing is sustainable.

Ahah, yeah, but we might be getting just a tiny bit ahead of ourselves on this one, aren't we?

Funny about how the entire board went from scrub to keeper within a month. I knew he was good.

I am not so impressed in his play as I knew he always had it in him just needed the right opportunity, what I am impressed with is Henny sticking to his guns and having an eye for talent and not trading him for scraps when he wasn't producing. I remember a lot of people were questioning the Harkless trade and insisted it should have been Nicholson to go, the trade which basically turned into Napier for Harkless.

I remember a post along the lines of "Is Harkless the next Paul George? LMAOOOOO!

I will do that trade ten times over.

Hopefully Marble eventually blossoms o_O

Evan needed to play less minutes, he was getting gassed. AG will get his minutes eventually, this is a deep team.

Yup that happened quite a bit. Glad Rob stuck with him, he could have easily traded him if he felt like it.

nah not the whole board. You knew he was good but wanted Big Baby to play over him when AN was outperforming him. Plenty of people saw his potential then. We just had a dolt for a coach though, so yeah.

Yeah Harkless doesn't look like a total hopeless scrub in Portland, but we clearly went with the right player, especially given we have two other forwards that need time at the 3 in Aaron and Mario.

I always wondered what kept on the bench. There would be games where he got 15 points or so in a half then benched for 10 games. Maybe he final finally got on board about playing defense.

I think he finally got a coach that set expectations. As long as he defends and rebounds he pretty much has a green light on offense. Very high IQ player.
