Well, he's not Shabazz.

Appling has been balling lately. He just dropped 30 and is averaging something like 16/5/4 in 30 minutes a game. In his 5 January games he is shooting a lot more and putting up 20/7/5.

he'll definitely have the opportunity to show his worth and earn a 2nd 10-day contract. If he does well for the 3 weeks he's here, sign him for the rest of the year and trade Napier.

Nice to see Keith getting an opportunity. Not sure why it took so long. With CJ being injured, you would think they would have wanted to bring in another PG a long time ago.

He looked pretty out of his depth in pre-season but we'll see how he goes.

Like Napier, he looked like he just couldn't run the PG position at the NBA level. But we'll see. Skiles has to have someone to threaten Payton with, right? Napier isn't doing his job properly.

It is very clear from Applying's signing that Watson is far from ready.

Does this mean Skiles is thinking about going back to a starting lineup with Elf/Oladipo/Fournier and he doesn't trust Napier to run the 2nd unit?
Otherwise where will Appling get minutes?
Or is he there to be the gritty defender that Skiles can bench Elf for, since Napier obviously can't?

I do not think he will. His 10-day contract is for Coach Skiles to examine his potential and to play on the practice squad to help Payton get towards game shape.

I'm guessing Appling ins't here to actually play in a game but to practice and see if he has learned anything up in Erie. With Napier sick and CJ likely out til past the AS break, we need bodies.

Crap! Just when Victor goes on a shooting roll, he's injured!

With Watson and Napier out, The Magic needed another point guard and it is nice to see Keith Appling get a chance.
He definitely deserves it especially with his recent play.

So doesn't this mean CJ is out for season? He must have a rotten ankle. But anyways, welcome to Keith. Anything to keep Shabazz in the bench.
