New coach would last about 2 months. Next year Payton will officially be an NBA vet which means people will randomly want him traded.

I'm pretty sure we would have multiple threads wanting Blatt to be fired too. Sunrise, sunset.

EDIT- This is from a guy who actually like what David Blatt brings to the table.

I'm shocked they fired him, #1 in east despite major injuries and they fire him to put Tyronne Lue in there, totally Lebron's doing, just stupid for an organization to cater to a player no matter how big they are. They really think Lue/Lebron running this team is gonna get by the 2 west juggernauts lmao

This guy took Cleveland to the finals last season without Love and has his team sitting at the top of the east this season. What the actual ****?

Tyronn Lue will accept his assistant coach to LeBron role better than Blatt did.

But nah, don't want Blatt. Was too much of a pussy to stand up to LeBron, so I don't respect him.

Same here. I couldn't believe they fired him. Only in the NBA can a coach take a team to the finals and have the best record in the conference and still get fired. There had to be something else going on behind doors. I don't think Lebron supported him.

Feel bad for him. He did not deserve to get fired. Can't wait to hear Jeff Van Gundy rip into Cleveland  He will be fine. Blatant won't be unemployed for long.

If anyone read between the lines, there were fault lines between LBJ and Blatt at times. Blatt became the coach before LBJ came back to Cleveland, therefore LBJ had no say so to sign off on the guy or not. All the talk about Tyronn Lue being more of a coach than Blatt is during their games has come to fruition now. Next up, the trade of Kevin Love. If I'm Love, I'm looking forward to the change to be free of the control of LBJ and Gilbert. That said, these changes will not bring the Cavs a title anytime soon.

Isn't he an offensive coach? Why not bring in an offensive assistant for Skiles staff? I would not want Blatt has HC.

I don't understand why people are surprised that Blatt was fired. Yes, the timing is odd...but he was destined to be fired from the day LeBron came back to Cleveland. It's been clear for a long time that the players didn't want him in there. The only surprising part is that they took so long to do it and waited until half way through the season.

That being said, he still has great potential to be a good coach in the league...he just needs to be with a younger squad that he can mold to play his offensive game. I don't know that it will lead to success...but that is what he needs. Skiles isn't going anywhere any time soon. However, if Blatt has aspirations to be an NBA head coach again...he would be wise to accept an assistant job somewhere. It would be pretty amazing to land a coach with that potential.
