Let's Talk About Tobias

Is he staying? Going?
What's his role for us going forward?
Some seem content with his production for the usage.
Others think we should be getting more out of a $16 million dollar man.
I lie somewhere in the middle. I'd keep him but I really want to see him off the bench as I've been saying most of the season.
If we get a pretty good offer, I don't mind moving him.. but I don't want him for any washed up veteran like some people do.

Just another player that isn't benefitting from our style of play. It's a shame that he can't get some consistency from behind the arc. I like him, but I think i'd miss his personality more than his play on the court if he were to be traded.

I'm not really in favor of trading him in terms of his personality, and what he could do in a proper offensive setting. Everyone on the team seems to genuinely like him. I'd honestly trade Oladipo/Fournier before I let go of Harris.

Tobias does seem like a great guy.

I don't think anyone here has ever questioned if he's a good player or not, because he is. He just doesn't really fit this team, I don't know why. I keep waiting for him to get better, because he showed so much promise 3 years ago. He really hasn't improved, at all.. I think what he is now, is what he is always going to be. If that's the case, he's definitely expendable, sadly. Could definitely bring a pretty piece to the show... but what? Is Gordon our PF of the future? Is Vuc our center? Payton our PG? I mean really.. We don't have a single player who has established themselves as a starter at a specific position for the future.

He bricks his wide open 3's and doesn't do a great job creating his own offense (but he isn't horrible either). I have said it many times but he just comes across as an average player.

We're apparently better without him.

I feel like all these players on this team would be more cohesive together if we could just find a glue guy and have some vet presence.

I don't see how not having him helps us so that's where I'm standing at the trade deadline. I would hate to have to move our young vet just to get someone here that can whip these guys into shape each night. We need a floor general with some heart and leadership to get the best out of everyone.

He will be the first traded. Even when we resigned him I've felt that it was to not lose an asset. With having AG on the team he was always going to be the odd man out. Evan will prob be the next one since we have Mario on the team.
In terms of his 3pt shooting he is getting great looks and he is missing them. He can make those shots.

I think we should trade Oladipo before Harris. We have Evan and Mario, both better offensive players than Dipo. Harris can stay to play at 3.

Oladipo excels at defense and is capable of offensive outbursts. He shows improvement in his midrange shot and getting to the line. He'd be a perfect 6th man here. Harris is not special at any aspect of the game. Really - he never improved during 3 years here (maybe his defense at the 3). He neither is a full time 3 nor 4. I'd like him on the bench but for 16 million we can do better I think.

I think he could come off the bench as well, put the ball in his hands against the second unit and go from there. I am liking Gordon at the 4 he seems to be getting better each game and is a good weak side defender and rebounder which he should get better at.

Harris is a jack of all trades master of none kind of player. He is perfect next to superstars/all stars but it's unfair to expect him to rise to that level. If he were on a team where he had the defined role as the 3rd option I think he would flourish, but with the current make up of the Magic he just doesn't fit. We need a true 1st option offensively and he can't fill that role.

This team needs some addition by subtraction.
See how smooth our offense looked at the end of the game with Payton/Fournier/Hezonja/Gordon/Vucevic in there? Good ball movement, lots of shooting, lots of hustle.
But trading Harris likely means bringing someone in who's going to disrupt that lineup anyway.

i think Jason smith earned all of Frye mins off the bench also.
channing frye and Harris are the assets to move if we could use those 2 + Dipo to get a star i think we can avoid disrupting line up. I think a brandon knight or cj mccollum would gel very well with this team and both those teams need a SF so Harris makes some sense for them.

I think there is a 50/50 chance we trade him. It all depends on who calls and what they offer. If its a trade that will make the team better and set up for a run at the playoffs, then Henny will pull the trigger. If not, then we keep him and see what happens in the offseason. I would not trade Tobias just to trade him. He has good value and many teams could use him. Dont undersell.
Frye has to go though....even if all we can get is Pringles for him.

His usage has dropped. We seem to be not exploiting the corner threes, which he showed consistency of knocking down last year.

Unfortunately, CJ is pretty much unobtainable. Dame and CJ are their cornerstones. I would, however, like to obtain Knight. But wouldn't he play better with Oladipo, rather than Payton?
