So 1 superstar + 2nd tier player or 1 superstar plus fournier if we strike out.

I'm afraid this is what we might go after come summer. Is he the stretch 4 that we really want next to Vuc though?

Keep in mind that Vuc could be traded around the draft for another player. Our roster may look very different after the draft day.

I like Vooch, but who's to say we don't trade him if we sign Horford? His contract should fetch something pretty good.
What sucks is that if Vucevic would just be more consistent on defense, we'd have roughly the same player at half the cost. (I suppose that's the definition of a one-way player!)

Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Yeah, still need a final number (underlined and bolded
) after waiving Marble and Ilyasova. That's the most likely scenario if we want to be major players.
47 million dollars. Come and get it in Orlando.

Why not just keep Vuc? What does Horford really do that Vucevic doesn't? Plus Vuc is on a much better contract and is 4-5 yrs younger. I would rather try to find a defensive PF, or try A. Gordon at the PF more. Maybe get a defensive PF in the draft, or wait till 2017 summer and make a run at Ibaka?

Re: Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Keeping Fournier and renouncing everyone including Marble and Ilyasova leaves the Magic with roughly $47 million.
Plus, they can also stretch Watson (1.7/1.7/1.7) and Napier (0.5/0.5/0.5) - if needed - for an additional $4 million in cap space.
The Magic can have a rough total of $51 million to spend. They can then spend over the cap to retain Fournier if they want.

Re: Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Seems like our absolute, realistic best bet is a Horford/Barnes offseason, and going over the cap to re-sign Evan.
Payton/Watson
Oladipo/Fournier
Barnes/Hezonja
Horford/Gordon
Vucevic/Smith
Hopefully we can trade Dipo for a big man or chance to move up in the draft to get one.

Vucevic
Where is this 51 million going? The only position I could see upgrading is pg. I'm not a fan of giving a SF max cash when Hezonja isn't far from being ready to start.

This puts Hezonja/Gordon on the bench for 3-4 years...

Re: Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Um, why not keep both Horford and Vooch? Horf has only played the 5 because of Millsap. I think he's our likely target since we went after Millsap last year and then we look like Vooch/Horf/AG/Dipo/EP with Hezonja cWoming off the bench. We need to forget about Durant. Will we try? Of course. But as of now it has less than a 1% chance of happening. Now, if we don't make the playoffs and get incredibly lucky in the lottery and can get a guy like Simmons? Then maybe Durant thinks about it, but the odds of that happening as of now are probably less than 1%. The Hawks don't seem committed to their team anymore and Horford will probably want a big deal. Maybe he looks to a contender, but I think we would have a good shot at him. The other option is we throw a ton of money at Barnes and put AG at the four. Tough call with Barnes, but somebody is going to probably do it.

Re: Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Is Horford really a PF at this point of his career?
Id love Mike Conley. Outside of him, im not huge on the "stars" in this class outside of the obvious (kd,derozan). I do like some of the role players, like Mahimni.
If we miss, i just hope we dont blow our load on 2nd or even 3rd tier guys. Just wait it out.

Re: Orlando Magic Free Agency Guide 2016
Conley, Batum, Barnes, and Derozan would all be worth going after. IDK about giving Barnes max money though.
