That's a pretty slanted article from OPP.

When the Golden State Warriors came to town, their roster was composed of veterans. Despite going through a similar rebuild which started a year before Orlando’s, there is a night and day difference between the two rosters.

His key argument about GSW's rebuild compared to Orlando's is totally wrong. Their rebuild did not start the year before Orlando's. Rob Hennigan was hired on June 21, 2012. GSW's rebuild started four years before Orlando's:

...and the Anderson vs Frye argument is missing the context and 2 offseasons separating the transactions...or that most of RH's FA acquisitions have been more procedural in nature, rather than talent based.

as usual from weak OPP writers...bad fact checking and badly slanted writing

Good summary of his tenure here thus far, but I think the tone is a little negative, especially surrounding the free agent signings.

We can't fault the guy for not landing a big name FA in this climate, and aside from the Channing Frye contract (which proved to be a low risk, easy-to-move asset), he hasn't panicked and shelled out major cash on an undeserving player. These are the kinds of things that cripple rebuilding teams. We're still very, very lean.

You could also argue that he's done great with each of our picks aside from Oladipo, who in fairness was widely considered to be the best player available at that point. Obviously in hindsight Gobert or Giannis would have been a better move but they would have been major reaches at #2. Vic was as NBA ready as anyone in that class. Henny's also really bad lottery luck.

I understand that in the NBA wins matter above all else. That's how he'll be judged at the end of the day. This offseason is going to set the tone for the rest of this rebuild. If he fails to bring in a difference maker in FA then it would be fair to criticize, IMO.

Agreed. Another reason why you can't compare our rebuild to GSW's is their best two players were drafted by the organization.

If we had the opportunity to draft a player of Curry or Thompson's caliber and whiffed, then that's fair. But all you can really do is maximize the value of your picks.

But all you can really do is maximize the value of your picks.
Even then, the draft is a complete crap shoot. 6 teams passed on Curry with Blake Griffin and James Harden being the only other two legit top 5 picks going that high. Ten teams passed on Klay Thompson with only one other guy being a legit top 5 prospect being picked that high and that's Kyrie. The only thing people can do is try and predict what a player will turn into, its not an exact science so even in that scenario you cant really give the writer credit for what he's trying to spin. OPP as usual, putting out bad information.

2009 Draft
1. Blake Griffin
2. Haseem Thabeet
3. James Harden
4. Tyreke Evans
5. Ricky Rubio
6. Johnny Flynn

7. Steph curry

2011 Draft
1. Kyrie Irving
2. Derrick Williams
3. Enes Kanter
4. Tristan Thompson

5. Jonas Valanciunas
6. Jan Vesely
7. Bismack Biyombo
8. Brandon Knight
9. Kemba Walker
10. Jimmer Fredette
11. Klay Thompson

Sacramento passed on the Splash Brothers for the Tyreke Evans/Jimmer Fredette combo.

Just a reminder that it could be worse. Lol

The Warriors rebuild did not begin until after that We Believe Warriors team beat the Mavs in the playoffs. Took them 6 or 7 years just to get back to the playoffs after that.

Just wanted to concur with all this with an emphasis on the weak OPP writers bit... why can't we even have quality content :(

Did Hennigan end this interview with: "I like this team!"

I do like this team. Matter of fact I love this team. No one drafts finished products. This isnt the 80s. Guys develop and get pruned and coached for their fit in the teams system. I still very very very much believe in a EP, VO, Hezonja, AG , Vuc lineup taking us somewhere.
