Let me start this off by saying I was a big Skiles supporter I thought he was definitely the right coach to hire. Wow was I wrong. He has not only run this team into a wall but now berates players in press conferences almost daily. He called AG out for hero ball which Olafipo does every damn game now he is back on his favorite whipping boy Payton. I can't lie if I am a FA I want no part in a coach who openly calls out players in press conferences. It is plain childish. Say what you want about Vaughn but at least he didn't do that ****. A question I want to ask is do you guys think we are stuck with him? Which looks worse to FAs a coach who daily berates his players in media or for us to look like an inept organization by firing another coach?

I'm afraid he is. I'd never play for disloyal scumbag such as him. Although players realize that coaches change quickly in this league. One day Skiles is a coach and the next day he's out the door. And you stay in sunshine state without tax and with young teammates. Not bad.

He is already ruining Hezonja with short leash . Even if in last 2 games Fourneir and Dipo are getting smoked buy opponent guards. When you see how much better he played as starter and how good he was at allstar rookie game with freedom and yet you still hold him on bench for some guy that can walk for nothing this summer (Fournier) ... just... And not a single PG with brain will sign for Skiles, why would he? Skiles keeps his PGs in right corner far away from ball, with amnesty on Pick&Roll offense.

I don't think Skiles will make it any worse than the position Henny is already in.

This is a league where front offices have no loyalty for coaches, if he is truly the issue and a big FA doesn't want him here I could easily see him being fired and replaced.

There's too many great coaches waiting for the opportunity to coach a team like Orlando.

If KD wants Brooks for example Martins will not hesitate to fire him once season ends.

I don't think Skiles will be the problem as much as Henny not having the experience or the respect around the league to pull off major Free Agent aquisitions or trades.

But, I still feel Dwight and Parsons are colluding to come to Orlando. That would be a coup for Henny!

This is somewhat of an ironic post. Clearly, the only reason Skiles is here is due to Martins/DeVos. Why on earth would Henny have any interest in a guy he had never met and who had been an abject disaster at his last coaching stint and then spent the last 3 years sitting his ass on the couch as he had no role whatsoever in the NBA.

We have Skiles because of ownership. Would be nice if they saw the light and realized him for the horror show that he is. But I doubt it.

If the plan all along has been to make a big splash this summer.. why hire Skiles as your coach?

I think Henny wasn't allowed a choice because he did such a bad job in choosing Jacque Vaughn.

This panic decision will cost us. The only FA that might want to play with us is prob Dwight and maybe Parsons because of their history here. That might overcome the negative of playing for Skiles.

What happened the last time management got involved in basketball operations? We ended up trading away the team that go to the finals and let Hedo walk. After that, it all went downhill. Who knows what this will do.

Even if Skiles is out after next season Alex Martins isn't going anywhere and he is the root of this teams problems.

No way. Vaugh was on his way out. Henny was going after Thibs and when he decided to step out, thats when Alex Martin stepped in.

People don't pay attention to issues that aren't personal to them. Players from other teams don't watch the Magic's press conferences.

I can't imagine Skiles' personality will serve as a draw for potential free agents, but that is what the money is for.

People keep referencing the impending free agency period as though it is critical to the future of the Magic. There is too much money out there this summer for the Magic to be able to use it as the lure for some franchise altering talent. Hennigan has overpaid for every free agent he has brought in thus far, and the group as a whole has been bereft of talent.

Thats what I think. Thibs was Hennys #1 target. After he missed out, Martins was like "Ok, you struck out with Thibs and failed miserably with Vaugh. Its my turn and I pick one of my all time Magic favs."

During the pres conference, nobody had a bigger smile than martins.
