Pat has sat in that seat the last 3 lotteries under Rob and we haven't had the luck we've wanted. Time to switch it up, i guess.
Money that with Rob, we actually move back, lol. Just our luck.

I sort of wish we lost a few of those games at the end. I vehemently disagree that those extra 3 or so wins really help for anything in the future, especially if a team changes a lot the next year.
On the other hand, I was happy to see the team dig out some wins and start to gel together -- at the same time, if there's an 8 or 9 seed that moves to #1 like the Cavs did a few years ago I'll be PISSED. Haha.

Could not disagree more.

If there is no possibility of moving up or down I'd rather win. But if there are a significant amount of spots you're able to jump up (2-4), I don't know how winning at the end of the season translates to anything 5 months later. If you could show me a constant pattern of rebuilding teams winning at the end of a season translating to a good season the next year, I'd change my tune. A big name FA is going to come because of money and who's on the roster, not because they saw 3 less wins in the column this year at the end of the season.
Anyway, maybe Hennigan will give us luck and we can jump to top 3.

Unless we jump up I still feel we trade this pick for a veteran or a future asset. Those few extra wins were worth it. Time to break the losing mentality around this team.

I'm still counting on trading this pick. This draft is fairly weak compared to last year. The 2015 draft was the one to pull a unicorn. KAT is a winning prize worth tanking for. Ben Simmons or Ingram do not appear to be franchise changing guys like KAT.

In a dream world where we land the #1 pick, what's everyone's plans?
- draft Simmons and don't look back?
- draft Ingram and don't look back?
- trade the pick? (Who for?!)
- draft one of those two and trade them later for a star (the way Cleveland traded Wiggins for Love to partner with LeBron)?

Draft BPA if it's a top 3 pick and keep them.

I'm fine with trading the pick if we either trade it for an underrated young player with star potential or package it for an established star (not as likely). However, I'd like to keep the pick if there's no specific target in mind. For young teams like us without an existing franchise player, their first star is acquired via either 1) player development of the existing roster, 2) the Draft, or 3) trade/FA acquisition of a young player who eventually blossoms into a star.
The 2016 Draft is weak, but so was 2013, and somehow Giannis Antetokounmpo and Rudy Gobert ended up getting drafted later than where we're picking this year. Our chance of getting a steal like that isn't the highest, but it's possible with Hennigan, Matt Lloyd, and our extensive scouting team. At the very least, it's much higher than the chance of someone like KD bailing us out overnight.
It's also worth mentioning that since the general consensus in the league is that this draft is weak, we won't get as much value back in a trade. There isn't really a right or wrong draft to trade out of.
My question is: If you want us to trade the pick, who do you want to trade it for?
