The Quest for Magic Head Coach

Post#1 » by fendilim » Thu May 12, 2016 2:48 pm

So who do you guys like?
Certainly, Skiles stepping down came a few weeks too late. Missed out on Thibs and Brooks.

Lionel Hollins? Messina? Blatt?

Personally, I'd love to get Messina on this team. I think his european background of basketball can really help this team's lack of offensive power. And

Edit:
Team officials interviewed three other candidates for the job face-to-face: Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson, former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson and then-Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg, who ultimately became the coach of the Chicago Bulls.

So I guess we'd bne looking at Mark Jackson and Mike Woodson again?

Thibs or Brooks would have been A+ hires. Ah well.

I'm not overly thrilled with the candidates available, but the candidate that sticks out to me is Blatt.

Vogel and Blatt were not available at that time so I am sure we will go after them. I would also love to have Messina as our coach.

To me I think Blatt, Messina & Vogel could all be good hires. I'm just so happy to be rid of Skiles. As long as we don't get Mark Jackson I think we'll have an improvement for sure.

So besides us, who is looking for a coach? Just Houston and the Knicks, right?

If that is the case, I hope we end up with one of Vogel, Messina or Blatt.

Well we're 10 games improved and another year more experienced. Also have a lot of money to spend to improve the team. I hope we can attract a better coach this time around...

The decision will be huge for free agency. I don't think many big names would have been thrilled to play for skiles, so at least we have an opportunity to upgrade. Question is are we attractive enough to get a coach like vogel?

I reckon RealGM fans bullying Skiles finally got the best of him.

Well, Henny and Magics reputation may be going down the tubes. It will be extremely hard to get a top notch NBA coach now.

The Quest begins as we will be fighting Brooklyn, New York, Memphis, Indiana for coaches.
I advocate of the duo of Messina and Blatt.

I think Vogel would be a fantastic hire, I hope we get him. Not too psyched on Blatt or Wooden. Not sure about Hollins (I think he'd be good?). I don't think we can afford to take a chance on Griffin (specifically I don't think Hennigan can afford to).

I know why Skiles got pushed out. Because, Dwight wants to play for his kind of coach.

I like Vogel, but his offenses have left a lot to be desired. Messina & Blatt may be best options because of their philosophies and our good-passing players fit better in that unselfish system.

Adrian Griffin may get serious look. If he's not hired, he'll join Thibs in Minny.

He certainly was when his team was healthy. And getting 38 wins out of george hill, cj miles and rodney stuckey leading the way was pretty impressive last season... 45 wins this season was pretty good considering their roster makeup, too. He's like Thibs... maybe not quite as good, but he's up there due to his strength with defense and ability to get a lot out of players.
