Frank's coaching staff thread....
Who are some names the Magic and Vogel will be looking at? I'd like to see Adrian stay, but no hard feelings if he doesn't. We'll need an offensive assistant(s).

Re: Frank's coaching staff thread....
I quietly hope Rob's interview with Vanterpool was to gauge if he'd be a fit as potential lead assistant. Seeing his work with Dame & CJ is encouraging.
Shaw is probably waiting on an offer from us. He was Frank's lead assistant and had a hand in PG's development. Also can implement some triangle for our offense.
Frank said he'd work with Rob and Scott Perry to pick his staff so anything is possible.

Vanterpool would be a hell of a get for our guards. Has the background with Rob. Part of the Ettore Messina tree. Doing perceived wonders in Portland.
I know he hasn't coached since 2013, but I could see Vogel reaching out to Jim O'Brien as sort of a payback for helping Frank multiple times over the span of a decade.

I heard it on 580 yesterday. One of the guys spilled the beans and the other one said he wasn't supposed to say anything about that until it was officially signed. Sounded like they had a credible inside source, maybe even Adrian himself.

Good info.
Definitely assumed Thibs would scoop him back up.
I'd keep an eye on Vanterpool and JB Bickerstaff as potential lead assistants.
I doubt any of our current assistants come back, although when JV got fired, Laron Profit and Jay Hernandez made it to Skiles staff.
Seeing how Hernandez was Tobias' personal coach before taking the Magic job, I doubt he survives the cut this time.

Re: Frank's coaching staff thread....
I'd love to have Shaw here, I really think he should be the priority, if Indiana's offense was his brainchild.
This team doesn't have a legit go-to scorer, similar with Indiana. And for Indiana to have found success built that way, I think would say a lot as to how they executed their offense.
Also, he's background with the Triangle would do wonders for us.
I highly doubt Griffin comes back. I don't think Frank would even be comfortable working with Griffin.

It was Griffin's job to lose.Nemesis21 wrote:fendilim wrote:I'd love to have Shaw here, I really think he should be the priority, if Indiana's offense was his brainchild.

Says who? The media? They were Rob's top 2 choices, but I doubt they dislike each other, just because one got the job and the other didn't.

Re: Frank's coaching staff thread....
Shaw hasn't accepted the Lakers offer yet. Maybe he's waiting to hear from Vogel?
Also read this nugget after Shaw was fired:
Brian Shaw was a very popular figure on the team. He was largely credited with mentoring Lance Stephenson from a second-round pick who barely played in his first two years to an imposing two-way guard who was close to making an All-Star team in 2014. Paul George also praised Shaw for helping him develop into a superstar.
The Pacers were having practice news of his firing broke, and according to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports, it wasn’t just West who was upset. All the players who played under Shaw didn’t like the news.

Well Nyce_1, my old friend, this is a very good piece of information especially when Shaw was being considered for so many H/C positions around the league! Here is what scares me at the end of the day, if Vogel brings in Shaw, that may be the signal that another headcase is on the way, and it SMELLS LIKE DWIGHT TO ME....if it happens!! What do you think?

Waiting for the Championship parade at Lake Eola!

I don't think that 1 equals the other. I also do not think Dwight will be welcomed back. However, if he is, Vogel & Shaw are a good tandem to get Dwight to buy in.

it was ugly for everyone. no secret he wants to come home. If Rob does it (highly doubt), I trust him and believe Dwight won't be a problem here.

Triangle offense? With Elfrid Payton who can't shoot?
