Out with Dipo and in with Ibaka, the draft day trade has definitely changed things moving forward. Let's see what the plan is now.

Question to start the discussion, which would you rather have:

Dipo and Horford

or

Beal/Derozan and Ibaka

As much as I love Dipo, I would choose the latter. Who do you guys think we should target now?

2nd option is much better, but I wouldn't go after Beal.

Who are the realistic go-to guys / closers in free agency right now? At any position.

Here's the list I use:

I've seen the list, I just don't follow other players.

Rank these players in terms of go-to scoring ability:

DeRozan
Conley
Parsons
Batum

I was all gung-ho for Horford, but now I feel like we need someone to give the ball to at the end of the game. Fournier at the 2 isn't going to get it done, and I'm not sure about Hezonja yet.

I would rank them just as you have them listed probably. You're probably right on your last comment too, which is why it wouldn't shock me if we do another 2 for 1 deal and then swing for the fences in free agency. Maybe Vuc for a guard and then sign Horford. I dunno, haven't had time to fully think this out... and it's late

I dont know how I feel about Beal. He is going to want a max and his injury prone career scares me. Pass on chucker Derozan and Parsons and Batum arent really known scorers.

Im really confused in how we are going to approach FA. Doesn't make sense to go after Horford anymore with Ibaka trade.

We need scoring and shooting in FA. Some scoring at that SG is a top priority.

can someone sell my Derozan? not a fan, at all.

Give me Batum/Ibaka.

Not the biggest DeRozan fan either but we have money to spend and lack talent. Personally, I would hold onto most of the money for next summer but I know many are impatient.

agreed. no need to make a bad signing just because; especially with the deep FA next year.

Derozan would be a great fit

-He's proven he can be the #1 option on a playoff team, something you can't say about anyone currently on the team
-His prime lines up nicely with the rest of the core
-He gets to the line.. as a team no one here averaged more than 3 fta a game last season, he had over 8 a game
-He's not a shooter, but would compliment Evan and Mario nicely

Not sure why he'd leave a #2 seed to come here, but he should be the top realistic target for us this off season and we'd be a top 4 seed with the additions of him and Ibaka.

We're not getting that kind of scorer anywhere else.. Mario is a couple years a way from that level, don't see Evan being a legit #1 option on a playoff team, as much as I love AG he isn't turning into Kawhi or PG next year, Parsons/Batum aren't #1 options..

Elf | CJ
Demar | Mario
Evan | Mario
Ibaka | AG
Vooch | Ibaka

With Ibaka, Vooch and AG getting about 32 minutes each and bring in a reserve big FA to fill the rest, and bring in a combo guard to compete for reserve minutes and able to step in for spot starting duty.

That's a solid and balanced 8 man rotation with all of our core getting solid burn, and room to grow with our young guys developing.

Everyone is talking about SGs but to me last night was Hennigan's vote of confidence in a Payton/Fournier backcourt?? Which I like.

I see us going after a SF and a backup big (mahimni) with an outside shot of still going after horford or dwight

Oh and if I'm Rob im showing up Hassan Whiteside's doorstep at midnight and selling him on the idea he can anchor the best defense in the league. Payton/Fournier/Gordon/Ibaka/Whiteside with Vogel as coach. Also selling him on the idea that a stretch 4 next to him and with Payton as his PG he is going to get the easiest buckets of his life. In this case Vucevic would either be 6th man (dont think there would be enough mins to go around) or ship him out

I'd still love to sign Horford, but PG slot worries me more.

We're still young team, with a lot of room for improvement. We need Elf to force defence to respect his shot otherwise he is not a solution. Also, AG needs to improve his shot as well, or we will see more Mario as a result. Hopefully, Mario will show he can stay on the court and not have a opposing team go straight at him.

If we are to roll with Elfrid for a year, if possible, we may opt to postpone big FA signing for next offseason.

Can we get Batum? Is that at all possible?

Conley/Elf/CJ
Evan/Mario
Gordon/Mario
Ibaka/Horford
Horford/Vuc/Ibaka

Looks like a top 3 team in the east to me

Sign Horford. Trade Vuc and picks for a SG. Then sign as many shooters as we can.

Im still so pumped bout Ibaka.

Allen Crabbe and Eric Gordon more so Crabbe are two guys I want to bring in. I of course want to go after Beal and Derozan but those likely won't happen and I take Gordon over every other small forward in free agency

most say it's a foregone conclusion that he'll re-sign with the Hornets, but anything is possible. If we can Evan & Serge to recruit him, I think we'd have a chance. But he really, REALLY enjoyed Charlotte, the coaching staff, and the freedom he had to play.

Here's a scenario that I think would set us up really well.

Magic make one more trade: Vuc and Payton for Jimmy Butler.

Magic sign Whiteside and Conley in free agency; then bird rights Fournier.

Conley/FA/Watson
Fournier/Hezonja
Butler/Gordon/Hezonja
Ibaka/Gordon/Smith
Whiteside/Dedmon/Smith

The front court would be a shot blocking interior stuffing powerhouse. Conley would create shots for all. Gordon and Hezonja off the bench as super subs playing big minutes.

With Vogel's coaching ability, I think this team could put up a fight against Cleveland.
