Stand Pat or Add Free Agents?

Post#1 » by MagicJeff » Sun Jun 26, 2016 5:22 pm

Do you all think it would be better to A. go with players we have now (all our young guys) adding only Fornier and bench depth. Or. B. Adding one or two max free agents and go for a Championship now but maybe stunting the growth of rookies EP, Mario, and AG?

I would target Conley and if we don't get him, stand pat for next offseason.

If we could go for a championship, I'm sure we'd do what it took.

Gotta crawl before you can walk though.

You don't trade for Ibaka and then stand pat in FA. Jeez. You want him to just walk away?

We need to convince him that we can be a contender or else he'll find one of his own. We traded for him so he can be a catalyst for convincing good FAs to come here. He wasn't brought here to be the "final piece of the puzzle".

Hope you're right. They need to go for a deep playoff run and it's not going to happen relying on Payton, Gordon, and Mario to play big minutes. Need a starting PG and a Small Forward shooter (Conley or Rondo and Parsons or Batum)

Really excited to see how the bench fills. Everyth9 else, from a fan perspective, makes me nervous...
The future is bright 8-) Payton said. ``I just want to keep getting better and maybe one day I can be the all-time all assists leader for the Magic.’’

Me too. I guess I would be ok with one max free agent and some sound veteran bench guys like West, Joe Jackson, Bismark, Ricky Rubio, Aflallo, etc. .

Do you think Magic could get Greg Monroe cheap as a backup? Milwaukee wants him gone

Monroe has a contract. No getting him "cheap" and he's not really a bench guy or a guy who fills a need position. This team needs a scorer bad now.

Good point. Need shooters. Maybe Ryan Anderson off bench?

Hell nooooooooooo

If I'm Rob and want to target a Buck, go hard after Middleton. They would never trade him though.

I would make Conley the #1 target now.

This team still needs help around the perimeter too.

So no, I would not expect the Magic to stand pat, or at least be aggressive in trying to improve the roster.

Tbh I'm not opposed to the Monroe idea. His contract is only 2 more years and honestly if you think he gets paid a lot of money, just wait until the **** hits the fan next week.

Target Conley and Batum for the max. If that doesn't work test out how much parsons is worth.

Monroe would be a nice rotation guy with Vuk, Serge, and Aaron(With Aaron playing some 3 too with Fornier and Mario).

Agreed. Conley makes a significant difference not only scoring, but more importantly the effect his presence will have in creating for others and general offensive cohesion.

Batum, good fit depending on price, but seems unlikely.

Parsons, injury concerns a worry on a big contract.

Not a big signing, but as mentioned above affalo could be a nice vet signing at a lower end price. Fits the culture, d, and outside shooting needs, while providing wing depth.

Put me down for Conley and affalo. Resign of Fournier and Smith.
