starting center poll

Post#1 » by fklt » Sun Jul 3, 2016 8:02 pm

seems like this is the hot question everbody is giving their two cents in bunch of threads. i think there is value in finding out what is the board consensus and what are the ratios.

i could bet money on vuc if i was a betting kind of person. team looks like it is structured to fit him currently.

Definitely Vucevic. We need his scoring ability. Plus, quite frankly Biyombo needs to prove he should start over him. I don't think he does.

Biyombo.

Because I'm a Vuc hater and not because Vuc isn't that good :)

I'm excited to see Vuc next to Ibaka. I have to say that it's unfortunate, but my excitement has been tempered probably in large part to the intense criticism our organization has received following the trade.

We have one of the best defensive bigs that the game has to offer who, by the way, can also shoot and has put up between 15-17ppg playing next to two ball-dominant superstars his whole career.

There's no doubt Vuc is a great big man, imagine his productivity now with anything he lacks being severely offset.

Balance my friends... We're finding it.

Payton
Fournier
Gordon
Ibaka
Biyombo

That team would be disgusting on offense.

I didn't vote because there are so many variables. So much depends on how our young talent develops. Also, its not even July 7th yet so Hennigan could have a trade lined up for Vucevic that changes the entire dynamic of the roster. Or Vuc might stay and become the fixture of our franchise. It's way too early to tell at this juncture.

I think Ibaka and Biyombo were brought in to help cover Vuc's deficiencies, not to replace him. So, my guess is that Vucevic is still a starter.

Of course, it's Hennigan we're talking about. Anything could happen.

Vooch. If he's confident enough to not give his number to Serge I think he wouldn't give his starting spot(or be OK with it). People may forget that Biyombo was a backup to Valanciunas this season so I think he would be okay coming off the bench.

Biyombo is 20-25mpg backup, pure defense and hustle, with negative offense. I don't think this is even an issue, as poll results so far show. IMO only a few people on the board are advocating Bismack, possibly seduced by whirlwind of changes last few days or by their personal disdain for white non-shotblocking center in Vučević.

Magic may opt for new starting C by next offseason, but it likely is not Biyombo, nor Ibaka as suggested here.

I'd start with Vuc and then adjust with certain match-ups after that. I think we can get pretty creative.

I voted Vuc because it gives us better balance in the interim, but I expect Biyombo to get 25+ mpg.

I put Biyombo because I feel like he would make the biggest impact. He might only block two shots a game but he could change a few more.

I really hope he gets 30+ minutes per game.

It's hard for a player who has no offensive game to get recognition, ask Ben Wallace who took a few years to get recognized.

Vuc is only going to take away shots from the rest of the starters.

Ibaka can shoot just as well as Vuc and could possibly average 20 without him as a starter.

I put Vuc because Biyombo is great coming off the bench and giving the entire team a spark.

Also, even if Vuc starts that does not mean he will get starter minutes. Biyombo may end up getting more minutes than Vuc but I can see this being more of a matchup and/or game situation. Whoever has the hot hand or whichever unit is getting it done.
