Vuc interview with NBA on Sirius XM

From orlandomagicrumors:

"Nikola Vucevic was asked in an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio if he expected to start this season: “That’s how it was for me. i was starting. I don’t expect that to change. I think I have proven I am definitely a starter in this league and I believe one of the best centers in this league. I don’t believe there is any reason for me to come off the bench. I have spoken to the Magic about it. They know that. That’s no disrespect to Bismack and he proved a lot last season and had a great playoff. But I believe I will still be a starter and one of the main guys on the team going forward as well.”'

Thoughts?

He's 100% correct on everything he said.

He is going to OWN Biyambo to the point that Biyambo will personally pay him the difference in salary

He's better fit next to Ibaka than Biz. That's obvious. Now if Ibaka doesn't pan out or just signs elsewhere next off-season then you need to seriously look at trading one of Vuc/Biz and get more fitting replacement for Ibaka. Many question marks, my friends.

Disagree. He should've said that everyone is concerned with making the team better, and he is committed to that in whatever role Vogel gives him.

Either way I just built this team in 2K16 and Im owning that shizz so that immediately translates to real life. #Dynasty.

I love Vuc, and I think he is vastly underrated around here.

But I hate how much "starting" equals validation for so many guys in this league. Some of the best NBA teams were able to accomplish their goals by bringing better players off the bench. See Manu and Iggy. Hell Kevin McHale won back-to-back NBA Sixth Man of the Year awards from 84-86.

Having competition for positions is a good thing. That means we have more capable players than in the past.

I think it will make for a great camp battle but I think Vogal is going to have a hard time turning down a starting front court of Biyombo, Ibaka, and Gordon. That is going to be hell for any team to have to deal with. Vuc is good off the bench centers. If he can't accept that role we may be saying bye bye to him by February.

Its the NBA and many players have egos. I have no problem with that. I would feel differently if we were contending for a title but we are not there yet.

Guarantee Vuc starts opening night... because the Biz is suspended first game  Vuc sadly sounds all about himself here and not team first. If he clearly comes out ready and committed to playing defense every night, he should start but the real question is who closes the game??

I've seen vuc play lackadaisical and just going through the motions during the season but this year if he tries that , he will be on the bench especially with the hustle machine behind him in the Biz. It will only take a few games of Bismack's crazy hustle to win over the home crowd and having the arena chant for him haha. That doesn't help Vuc in the long run

Wow. Hope he knows what he's doing with these kind of comments. Vogel already said he has 2 starting centres and he doesn't know who will start. Considering the investment we have made in Biyombo and the value Vogel sees in defense, I see him starting for this team eventually, whether it's this season or next. If Vuc isn't going to be able to handle that he'll be shipped out sooner than later. The sense of the entitlement from a guy that hasn't done anything in this league and only plays one side of the floor rubs me the wrong way.
