Magic 23rd ranked Bench in NBA?!?!?!

Ends up CBS has ranked the Magic as the 23rd best bench in the NBA. After all they have updated their bench this offseason, seems a bit of a slight.

Pretty unfair to Jeff Green. Also shows they're unaware when it comes to Watson that they think he's a great backup. He could barely get on the court last year, and Augustin played really well after he was traded last season.

Can't disagree with him on Hezonja. We're all high on him and I think he takes a step forward, but I think most will approach him with caution. And they're right about Meeks not staying healthy.

Having said all that, they're high if they think the benches they list just a few spots ahead of us are better. LOL at the Knicks at #9.

Seems a bit low. I have Vucevic as one of the top 3 bench bigs (for either big man position) in the league. DJ is a proven solid backup PG. Biggest x-factor here is Mario. He needs to become a better defensive player period and be a bit more consistent offensively. Keep that dude outta The Cheesecake Factory! Someone in another thread said he has lost 15 lbs this summer

Notice that they said Biyombo is the best back up center in the league but that is good enough for 23rd apparently lol. NY and NO being in the top 10 is hilarious.

Nothing is unfair to Jeff Green. He is not good at basketball.

This team as a whole is leaning heavily on the development of guys who looked average to blow up into superstars. Payton, AG, Biyombo, and Mario are huge question marks. Whether or not Ibaka can become more of a scorer is another thing to consider. There are too many questions to come to any better of a conclusion than this.

And Yes. The Knicks are 9th they have an elite scorer and Porzingis showed a ton of promise. Rose will be required to carry less of a load and I think that can have a positive impact on his health especially with Jennings behind them. People can talk about efficiency all you want that team will be around top 10 in the east hands down. Injuries aside they added guys who are known commodities and have had success in the NBA. Its much easier with the correlation data available to try and make a prediction.

I obviously feel like we're better than they're giving us credit for but our bench is almost completely new and we honestly don't know what Mario will be. Outside of their assessment of CJ, DJ, and Green I cant argue with it.

I obviously feel like we're better than they're giving us credit for and I think they're discounting Vogels impact but I don't blame outsiders for coming to this type of conclusion.

It's just talking about benches.

Right but at any rate they aren't wrong. I think the assessment of green is a little lazy, and I think CJ can back up Fournier but we have no clue what Hezonja will turn into or if Biyombo will be anything more than an overpaid back up.

Yeah there are a couple teams, like the Knicks , that I think we have a better bench than but I can see why people are not too high on our bench or are team in general because we are relying/hoping on a lot of our players doing things they haven't shown before, no one is really sure if our team fits together . I am optimistic that we can make a huge jump but I would be lying if I wasn't a little bit concerned with how everyone will fit and if we can even keep Ibaka . The great thing is that these articles don't mean sh*t !

I love when people say nerdy stuff like this and actually believe it is true. Have you ever played basketball before?

Yes. At a very high level. Can you say the same? Go ahead and tell me what Jeff Green is good at.

Yeah saying anyone in the NBA is not good at basketball is funny because obviously he is one the top 400 people on earth . But compared to other NBA players lately he has been a below average player , hence the reason he only got a 1 year deal .

Yes, I can say the same.

Jeff Green has shown that he can put up similar numbers to Tobias Harris, a player who many here believe is good at basketball. Additionally, it sounds extremely foolish to say that an NBA veteran is not good at basketball especially when he started for a playoff team just one year ago. If he was actually bad at basketball, he never would have started, even if the entire roster was gutted with injury.

I'm with you in theory, but I'm judging him on skill. If he were a foot shorter, would you be applauding his skill? I doubt it. I honestly think he is below average at everything having to do with his actual job description. He isn't a good scorer, rebounder, passer, or defensive player. Sure he's better than me, but I'm not comparing him to me. I'm comparing him to other people in his profession. On the same token, I can say Jacque Vaughn was a bad coach and you could counter that he was one of only 30 people who could claim to be an NBA coach at the time and that he knows more about basketball than me. You would be right, but that was never in dispute.

He didn't start for the Clippers unless you count those 10 games when super washed Paul Pierce was out. Doc thought enough of him to trade a 1st for him, but not enough to take minutes away from Luc Mbah a Moute.

I dunno...... I just can't even stand the basketball media anymore.

None of these guys are real basketball people and really just a career as a journalist.

Back when Hollinger and Thorpe were active contributors for ESPN I respected their opinion but I just don't listen to these other guys.
