There's a lot of understandable skepticism out there. The projected starting lineup isn't a perfect fit and we're really banking on Payton and Gordon to do things they haven't proven they can do yet. It's really hard to make the argument for the Magic to be a good team until there's evidence to back it up.

You mean the Magic don't get respect on outside the Magic forum on RealGM!?!?!?!?!

The Magic are obviously going to make a move within the next year.
Gordon is not going to be the long-term SF for this team. It will not work offensively.
Eventually, he will probably move to the 4 with Ibaka at the 5 and Biyombo off the bench.
Vucevic will likely be traded for a better swing or a point guard. I do not want to see Vucevic moved but that appears to be the plan.

I can honestly see Ibaka, Vucevic, and possibly Gordon not being on the team after next season. Elfrid will probably get the most margin of error due to what the Magic gave up to get him.

Gordon is 20 years old. Way, way, way too early to just say something flat out won't work. He's an extremely promising and underrated talent.

With AG's work ethic and the fact that he can't drink yet legally, don't think it's fair to say that.
I still remember arguing to everyone that he's a 3. Seems like more have jumped on that bandwagon but if his shot progresses like it seems like it will, then there's no doubt.

Wow, we do come off as really defensive on there. But I guess that's to be expected when our offseason is being panned.
Should be a fun season in terms of whether or not we prove the doubters wrong or validate them.

Anything can happen.
This is a big season in determining this team's future.

Gordon has lots of upside. I just do not believe it will be work but I could always be wrong.
As always, we shall see........

Yeah I agree it kind of looked like a few kids desperately trying to seek out everyone's approval, but we all kind of do that.
Only thing I touched on is w/ the Ibaka trade is that the OKC mods laughed it off a few months ago before the trade was announced but then once it was they talked like we just handed them a lotto pick.
But hey their excuse was they didn't realize Oladipo was as good as he was. Still don't buy it but don't care that much. Hopefully Ibaka can prove them wrong this season.

We shall. I do think we should chill on the playoff expectations. It could easily go either way, but I have a feeling everyone will be calling for Hennigan's head if we don't make it and I think that is being really impatient and short sighted. Our highest upside players are still 22 and under for Christ's sake.

There's a lot of wishful thinking and assumption by the OKC mod so I can see why some Magic fans got defensive. When people hang their hat on a trade being universally panned before the season has even started, then it's tough to really take them seriously. Reality is that critics panned about every move Hennigan has ever made, but in retrospect they have worked towards getting us one of two things - cap space (next summer has a lot of nice options) and young talent (Evan Fournier, Vuc, Gordon).
Remember, drafting Gordon was panned by critics. Trading for Vuc was and so was the Fournier trade.

Sounds kind of obvious but I think of it as the improvement of the east goes, so we go.
Last year the whole east looked much improved, the 8th seed Pistons won 44 games. The year before that, Nets won 38.
If the 8th seed can get in by win #s in the low 40s, I think we get in. If it's 44 again, that'll be tough. Just tough to make predictions this year.

All of a sudden OKC fans know Oladipo better than we do!
I guess watching a 5 minute highlight video makes you more knowledgable than someone that's watched him every game for years.
That's fine though.. I expect fans to back up the moves their team makes..

Yeah i saw this the other day. Good read. I don't think the OKC fans watched us outside of the thunder games and i think Dipo's stats can be misleading. I think they overrate him but he could flourish there. Maybe Donovan will coach him up and get rid of some of his bad habits.

It took me a couple of pages just to get them to understand that Biyombo, and not Green replaced Harris, and still they will not admit they were wrong. As for people saying I'm being defensive, nothing wrong with defending your position when you know you're right. They were/are being purposely stubborn, and its clear to see they don't really follow the Magic. They just follow what their "experts" say about the Magic.
