New Magic Players Deep Dive Scouting Reports

Post#1 » by Smitty731 » Wed Aug 17, 2016 11:09 pm

Hi all,

For Today's Fastbreak I am writing a series of deep drive scouting reports for people to get to know the new Magic players. I watched a just under a million hours of film (maybe a slight exaggeration!) on each of the new 8 guys on the roster.

http://www.todaysfastbreak.com/nba-east/orlando-magic/new-player-scouting-reports-serge-ibaka-jodie-meeks/

The above link covers Serge Ibaka and Jodie Meeks. I'm pairing one of the "bigger" additions with one of the "lesser" additions to keep the articles a little balanced in terms of interest.

The idea is to really get in to their games beyond stats and simple eye tests. Hopefully you'll learn something you might not have known about your new additions.

As always, any feedback is encouraged and appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your interest and support!

Really good read. Thank you.

Great stuff. Thanks. I really hope Ibaka can be reliable down low.

My only suggestion is that these profiles seem like a fan gushing about his team on Orlando Pinstripe opposed to a non-biased news source. Other than that, good stuff. In addition, Meeks was given too much praise considering he really hasn't played in 2 years and already may miss up to all-star break this year. After missing all that time, he is most likely not going to be anything like his former self.

Nice post and I like your approach of balancing 2 different players in the write up. I actually thought you were pretty fair on the good and bad in your write up. If Meeks is healthy, we have a barometer of what he was at the very least.

Good read. I enjoyed it. Some feedback, since you asked for it... IMO you should've expanded more on the Gordon and Ibaka fit. Gordon's fit at SF alongside Ibaka has been a huge point of criticism among casual fans. You could've discussed how they fit together on both sides of the ball, and whether or not you think Ibaka compliments the Magic's most important player going forward.

Thanks for the feedback. I had some stuff in there, but the piece was already getting a little long. I have some plans to write on overall fit a little further down the line, so I'll make sure to get it in there.
