Magic camp invitees: Nick Johnson, Kevin Murphy, Branden Dawson, Cliff Alexander, Arinze Onuaka, Damjan Rudez.
I'm thinking Rudez is the only one who makes the team.

Nick Johnson and Cliff Alexander are pretty good add. I like Cliff's motor. Sad he didn't turnout to be as expected, but I think his specs are like Bismack.

Any chance they let spectators in these?

Probably not for the training camp portion, in fact I don't even think the media has
a whole lot of access to much of the training camp practices.
I know they always do a goofy open practice every year during preseason though.

Shame. Would have been nice to see the boys in action. Even if its just a little scrimmage.

I know that they let some camera guys in from OrlandoMagic.com to record little 2-6 minute video clips of training camp.

I'm actually excited that we are bringing in Alexander, Murphy, and Dawson. Cliff is a youngster who hasn't panned out, but if we develop him he could be good down the road. Dawson is supposed to be very high energy, just small for a 4. Murphy gets buckets. Plain and simple.

I remember when we played against Dawson in summer league last year. These guys are all pretty recognize able names for camp invites.

So we have 13 on the roster including Zimm, that leaves 1 spot available?

Onuaka is a big, right? I forget who exactly played where as far as our SL team, but I thought both of our other bigs on the championship team looked wayyyyyyyy better than Zim.

Some pretty solid invites... don't think any of them have a big chance to make the team but maybe we can develop a couple in the d league... like alexander or dawson.

I'll take one Onuaku please. Big, tough dude that's in his prime and had no trouble repeatedly putting up double doubles in summer league.

Onauku has bounced around in and out of the league and back into the D league for years. He is a decent scorer on the block and obviously he's huge but I don't know why this guy doesn't just go overseas and make more money.

This is a lot of PFs. Roster wise, Orlando could most use a combo-wing. None of these guys are that, as far as I can tell.

Some interesting invites.
Here is the depth chart without the invites.
PG: Payton/Augustin/Watson
SG: Fournier/Meeks/Wilcox
SF: Gordon/Hezonja/Green
PF: Ibaka
C: Vucevic/Biyombo/Zimmerman
Gordon and Green also might play some 4. Hezonja should get some time at 2 as well.
Since they probably want Zimmerman to spend some time in the D-League, I especially think one of the bigs has a shot to make this roster.
Nick Johnson and Kevin Murphy have likely been signed for the Erie Bayhawks.
Branden Dawson, Cliff Alexander, Damjan Rudez and Arinze Onuaka are probably competing for one spot on the roster.
The ones who do not make it could be sent to Erie although at least the later two could go overseas if they do not make the team.
Regardless, these players are just insurance and hopefully this team will be healthy and whomever makes the team does not have to play much outside of garbage time.

Is Meeks expected back this year?
I'd have Mario 2nd SG either way. Green isn't a 15M dollar 3rd stringer.

No word on Meeks yet.
Mario is going to get a lot of minutes and Green is no third string SF. He will definitely get minutes.

I wanted to hit a couple of things here from what I know and what I've heard:
1. The practices are closed to the public. There is usually an open house deal where they do a light practice around the end of September.
2. Outside of the in house Magic media team, the practices are largely closed to the media as well. We get in for a snippet once and a while with availability usually after.
3. On Meeks: no timetable for his return as Howard said. I had one person with the team tell me: "It doesn't look good for anytime soon."
4. For regular season roster: The team says they prefer to keep a spot open for flexibility, but won't hesitate to keep 15 if they are the right 15 guys.
5. On the camp invites: My guess is Rudez has the inside track, assuming he shoots well. And maybe Johnson, who showed the most in Summer League. I also have an irrational belief that Dawson can be a player, but I just get swayed on undersized Michigan State guys after caping for Draymond Green big time before his draft. So, take that one with a huge grain of salt!

If Meeks turns out to be injured, maybe the league will give The Magic that second back as they have done that in past deals when a player was injured.
I feel The Magic never should have given a second in the first place.
