I wanted to experiment with something, so I set up an Orlando Magic RealGM Discord server. If you've never heard of Discord, in short, it's basically a chatroom/group chat that acts sort of like a mixture between Skype/old AIM Chatrooms/mIRC all in one.

Why have this, you might ask?

+ A place for us to chill and hang out and not be at each other's throats all the time.

+ We can set-up different chat rooms (text or voice) for separate occasions (if any of the Fantasy Basketball crew wanted a hub to discuss things, Build a Team groups, game day stuff if you can't access the forums/too lazy to get on, or just shooting the **** in the general chatroom with fellow Magic fans.)

+ Mobile friendly and the app is easy to use. You don't need to download Discord to use it, just make a name and you're good to go, as it works as a tab in your browser. But if you want to download it, you can also do that.

+ If anybody needs to get a hold of anybody else in the forums (NEM/drsd), Mod messaging, etc, it's pretty simple as there is private messaging, or using the @(username) feature.

+ If anybody games on console or PC, and wants to group up with or against anybody here, it's an easy way to talk trash or communicate with others using the voice channels.

Basically, I'm just seeing how this will go over. I can set up special ranks and privileges as well within the Discord server for people who I think deserve it (for fun) or are a mod on these forums already.

This has a lot of potential guys, I'd recommend that you take some time to check it out.

If we can get a core number of active users, I think it can only benefit the forum. I'll set up some roles and stuff tomorrow, but yeah, drop on in guys.

If you guys have any interest in setting up more text channels for a fantasy league or anything, run it by me and I'll get it set up.

Love the setup. I imagine this will be awesome if we have a room for each game. The chat would get pretty full on I imagine.

Not bad. Looks pretty simple and easy to use. This should be implemented in gameday threads.

Yes its nice and interface is so clean and easy no need to DL apps nothing you open browser log in and you are good to go.
Some of my clans from mmo games were using it.

I have a friend who always has people over and a large living room and a couple of couches. He always has GTA5 up on the big screen with a bluetooth microphone hooked up to it and sound thru a stereo. Anytime you are in a conversation, there may be 3-5 other people involved that you are talking to thru the game. And, it sounds like they are in the room with you that you forget about it.

Moral of the story, I wouldn't mind listening to people here flip out during games. Would be better than the Magic play by play announcers.

Oh really? I wasn't aware. I thought it was something you start up for each game separately. Ill jump on for the next game. Is it very active?
