If you look at the Celtics recipe from year ago, they kept only two of their draft picks, Perkins and Rondo. The rest they consolidated into KG and Allen.

And Paul Pierce just randomly showed up? He's the only reason those trades went down in the first place.

Also, they were the first in a line of teams that got better by trading Jeff Green away.

Sounds like we're only 3-5 months away from getting better.
Nice.

Celtics also traded their leading scorer, offensive minded, middling efficiency center in a consolidation package for a superstar

I think Jeff Green will be a versatile Defensive player that can switch between the 3/4 and probably won't ever have a crazy game in the box score with us, but most likely will provide us with some clutch plays and highlight dunks.
That's all I'm expecting from him, and I'll be happy with that.
Guys, I believe that a lot of you are impatient. We are at that point in a franchise's history where it's truly an "any day now" kind of thing. We have a lot of youth that's still yet to break out and all of our guys have shown flashes as well as a team upward trajectory in terms of win totals. It takes a while, and having a prime Dwight for so long spoiled us a lot.
I see a lot of complaining when we consolidate our assets, I see complaining that our individual parts aren't very good, I see complaining that we don't make any moves, then complaining that we make too many moves. It takes time and I think a lot of guys here would enjoy basketball a lot more if you just accept the likelihood that we aren't built to win now or be a contender--it just doesn't work that way. You can't bring in top flight talent through trade when you start with absolutely nothing, and you can't draft that superstar until you get the high draft pick in the right draft.
Win or lose this coming season, we have a sustainable cap situation, developing guys that have great value, exciting players to watch, possibilities with draft picks like the Lakers pick coming up, and Free Agent or Trade situations to entertain.
Orlandowillbeback--I have absolutely no idea how you can draw a Billy King comparison to Rob at this point. I'm trying to roll with you, but the end of that last thread man, you're reaching a lot. Until Rob starts trading multiple first rounders for vets with about a year left in the tank, I think he's clear of that comparison.

Green started every single game he played for Boston in his final season and a half there.
Yes, if you are relying on him as your started you have issues. He is a 6th or 7th man here. In that role, he can be an effective scorer against seconds units and a good vet for the lcoker room.

Nice.
Not to derail the humor, but with a one year deal, I think that Green would have to approve a trade. Someone want to confirm?

Orwillbeback's final question was how would we feel if we knew the magic would be bad for 3-5 years after Dwight was traded.
Well, it was pretty common knowledge that would happen. It was written about by about every OS writer, spoken about by Rob when he was hired and the Magic brass was also quoted as stating that it would take time. Anyone who follows the NBA knows that a complete rebuild takes 3-5 years.
So to answer that question, I feel exactly as expected because I am educated on the NBA and understand how long rebuilds actually take.

Wow you are so gullible
No Rebuild "should" take 3-5 years to get out of it. You get out of it asap, no matter what.
There is absolutely zero evidence that we are better off now for having endured 4 awful years of suckage than other teams that turned it around in 1 or 2 years.

And Im sure youre going to name all of those teams that did a full rebuild within a year or two and not just make blank statements backing them up right?

Hope the full team plays, and we don't rest other starters, these guys need serious minutes together.

Vogel stated today that Gordon is still hobbled by his ankle to an extent. Ibaka and Payton have looked fine according to him.
