I find it hilarious that...

When we had all these young assets, everyone here on realgm wanted to win now. Nobody liked Tobias, everyone hated dipo.
Now all I Hear is Omg Omg Omg we got rid of all our young assets, when back when we had them everyone wanted to trade them and win now.
When we had the assets we wanted to trade them... Then when we trade them we are like.... What are you thinking???
Winning is the only remedy. The answer is never right until you win. Ownership listened to our disgruntled fans and started the win now attitude. It's not ownerships fault, if we didn't bitch and moan about the "process" we would still have our young assets, now everyone lies and says they loved Tobias and they loved dipo... Don't give me that crap. You all lie.

So they traded all their assets because real gm posters wanted to win now? Funny.

Just because some people didnt like the young players doesnt meant they cant also dislike the return we got for them. I think most people who wanted us to trade our young talent wanted us to package them and draft picks to get a top 20 player.

Not everyone wanted to do the things that you're talking about. Stop generalizing the entire board.
In fact, this board almost had a meltdown on draft night when Oladipo was traded. The reaction was far more negative than positive. But that's besides the point. The problem wasn't that those players were traded, it's that the Magic haven't seemingly gotten much in return for them (we're waiting on Ibaka, of course).
No one's crying over Afflalo for Fournier.

That's exactly what it was. If we didn't bitch and moan they would have kept going with what the whole plan was. There was no reason to abruptly change their plans, the only explanation is satisfying their disgruntled fans.
And obviously not real gm but fans in general. We wanted to win now... Well... We're trying I suppose.

Not RealGm per say... What was going on here was but a small microcosm of what was going on, on the more mainstream outlets. Whatever was being said here was x100 with our misinformed casual basketball audience.
It's a shame really. Honestly I have more of an issue with our crowd at the Amway than I do right now with the shtty product on the hardwood floor. I don't know if it's poor design with the new arena or just our fanbase in general. I'm not so sure winning will ever cure what our crowd looks and sounds like.
But I do remember being in the small minority not wanting to rush the process during the Jacque Vaughn era. I didn't understand what everybody was in such a hurry to get to. Although it's still early I was afraid we'd end up in some sort of weird purgatory that we seem to be in now.

we got rid of those young assets and got a fraction of the value back.
we have jeff green and serge ibaka to show for oladipo/harris/1st, we also let nicholson go for nothing and are making our best young remaining player, not play the position he needs to play

even if that was true (which its not, i know for a fact i never wanted to trade either of them unless it got us a SUPERSTAR), theres a big difference between trading those guys away and GIVING them away which is what we did
We gave away 2 all star caliber players in their early 20s and all we have to show for it is (hopefully) a one year rental of a washed up PF who was never any good to begin with

everyone hated Dipo? where did you get that from.
And ownership didnt listen to the fans to win now, their very old owner wanted to win now, before he dies. Maybe you need to get your facts straight

A few issues here:
1) You would class Harris and Oladipo as 'all star caliber players?'
2) Serge Ibaka has never been any good at basketball who won't re-sign with the team that can give him the most money?
3) If Tobias had still been on the payroll then no Biyombo (whether you like Biyombo or not is irrevelant, I'm making the point that you can't say we got nothing in the Tobias deal as we got cap space which was then used on Biyombo).

You're talking like we traded a couple all-stars.

The Magic didn't listen to RealGM in particular, but they did listen to fans. They did several focus groups in the spring to find out what was working and what wasn't. They definitely took that feedback in to account.
I will say it was more ownership, but the team is very cognizant that they were losing the town to Orlando City. They don't want to be a distraction from January to April after football ends but before soccer starts. They want to get back to their status in town.
There was an interesting study done and they counted around the city over the span of a couple of weeks and Orlando City shirts, jerseys, hats, etc outnumbered Magic gear almost 4 to 1. That is a huge problem. How do you correct it? You start winning again.

Smitty, can you do some digging and find out of the Magic will play smaller lineups more often? It clearly works better for the team. They clearly need a SF next to Gordon and Ibaka and Biz at 5.
My fear is that they are stubbornly going to stick to this big lineup, when they have a potentially lethal combo right in front of them that can be tightened up with the right trade.

They believe in Gordon at the 3. They haven't wavered on that since acquiring Ibaka at the Draft. I don't think you'll see them pull him from the SF spot anytime soon. Maybe matchup based or on gameflow, but it won't be a regular thing.

Ugh. I knew it. This team is just going to kill themselves by being stubborn. I hope they watch film and realize what a mistake it is to play Gordon at SF.
